My Fish Room

Thanks for telling me. How wet was it?
I didn't put any water in the bags. It had to come from the news paper. I will get different bags next time. Those bags where supposed to be leak proof. :/
Now I know. I also won't use paper next time. I found out they do better just put in the bag with a tiny amount of water. I just have to make sure that the bags don't leak.
Did they fuss about the box? I am really sorry it leaked.
:friends:

No fuss. One corner was a little damp to touch, but it is the rainy season and it has been wet for over a week. I was told by another that the post office has rules about shipping water. I am reticent to tell you this.

They did fine, and they were packaged great. Sandwich bags are not leak proof whatever they may say. Their own commercials attest to that.

I am looking forward to finding homes for the plants. The timing is good actually. I have just put up new lighting, and I have been replacing the old flourecent bulbs. I can tell the difference in just a week with the latest changes. I have more new grow bulbs to put in.

All tour work labeling them is laying in a pile with no clue to what ia what with many of them.

What kind of substrate are you using? Are you using CO2 and all that stuff too?

We need to see some pictures of your cories too

So sweet of you to ask, Barracuda.

I am at present cleaning tanks. The glass and acrylic have not been cleaned good since November! I can't see through some of them.

I will post a link once I have posted the plant pics in the plant section. I have started a thread, but no pics yet.

I am still fussing with the computer set ups, the tank set ups, storage sorting and organizing. I am especially fiussed with the tangle of electrical cords left by the set up guy. He is more interested in art than practicality. He set tanks up without interest in whether the electicals were water safe even.

I do not plan to move to co2 at this time. That is much too precise for me. I am using plecs, good lighting and bulbs and am willing to add fertalizer. Once I have all my bulbs updated--some were 3 or 4 years old!--have everything updated that I already have and the tanks in reasonable shape, I will consider co2 if it seems I still need it. I have two UVs to install as well as another box filter and an Emporer 400. So the move to the monster of co2 is not even being conidered.

Today I cleaned 7 tanks and changed their water. I also moved some market ready fry to one tank for easy capture while the tanks were stripped. It only took a couple of hours. with the handiness of the fishroom.

Tell me, Barracuda, how do your Brochis multradiatus do? Mine are dumb as dornails and keep their noses raw trying to get through to the reflected fish. and get through the tank floor for food. I don't dare skip a feeding. I am still thinking in terms of a square acrylic tank for them--maybe rimless.

Hey Jollysue,

They are doing great. A couple of them, like yours, seem to scratch their noses on things, but they heal very quickly. That makes me happy because I know the water is healthy. Oh and just like you said, they had that nicely planted tank tore up in 3 days

I want to try the CO2 thing, but am not willing to spend the time to learn about it or the money to get it right now. I have been really studying the loaches lately and have plans to get 8 striata for a empty tank I have.

I know its off topic, but I know you like loaches too. I picked these up today:

They have some growing to do though :good:

Super! What are they?

I like the straita.

I posted some pics of my clowns, but no one was much interested. They are much more visible in the fish room. The lone one in the 100 usg even comes out more. Everyone is happier and spends less time hiding.

Yes I want to give the multiradius a deeper substrate of sand--I think they will keep it clean--and find some kind of hidy that they can move to get to the hiding worms, without hurting themselves. And only a few of mine get all raw, too; some don't do it.

Those are Gold Dojo Loaches.

My clowns come out by the time of the day. They know when its time to eat, because when I go to the room where their tank is to feed them at the same times every day, they are sitting there waiting on me.

I will have to go check out your clown loach pictures.

Beautiful! This is the prettiest fish room I've ever seen! Most of them are like in basements or sheds and they are all dark and the tanks aren't decorated. :( But this one is so nice! :D

Woot, my 1,000th post~!

Congrats on 1001, Chibi, and thanks. I wish there was room to put a swivel chair in the middle. Maybe I can get it arranged someday.

How can you possibly do 7 tanks in just a couple of hours? It takes me a good hour on each one of my tanks. (not the little ones... they go fast.)

I went to 2 pet shops today! :hyper:
I took 36 bronze and 31 peppers to Salt Water World in Monroe. They are starting to carry fresh water fish. The lady that has it is very nice. It is a nice shop, and they have the coolest shark! They have really good prices too. She said that they ship and will be linking the store to their site soon. They were really busy today when I was there. There was also a puffer with wicked eyes! (and sting rays that would make faces at you!) I had so much fun!
I didn't get any new fish though. I hope to get some soon though. :D
:friends:

If you get any fish imported or wild caught, be sure to check out the quarantine procedure before thjey get to you.

Yes nice lady. My lps asked me to keep it under 20 fish per species. Actually, way under!. I have a nice group to take now. Although I am tempted to offer the pandas on AB--maybe the lf bronze too.

Have you ever had anything on AB? You would probably get more for them that way. :good:

No, I have not sold on AB yet. I have to make the leap. I am just so lazy and it sounds like a lot of trouble. But the LF bronze and the pandas are just cute as the dickens.
