My First Lizard- Tips Please!

Look's fine, but as i said, you should not have a water bowl as the crickets will drown in it, and the anole wont drink it, but if you think it look's okay, then whatever floats your boat :D . You could put 4 anoles in there. Only becasue there is so much climbing space. They will breed in there, as there is so much humidity. You might want a few more branches, as they spend most their lifes in the tree's, unlike their cousin the brown anole. 90F is way to hot! I would go with a 80-85 degree hot spot, adn the rest at maybe, 75. Dont get a heating rock as it will fry them. Make sure there is some cover, so if it get's too hot, they can hide. Hope thise helps!

FOUR!? That's amazing!
I got the water dish for them to cool down in- if drowning crickets becomes a big issue I'll take it out.

Thanks for the help!

They cant swim, so dont try to amke them. I did when i was 9( 5 years ago) and it drowned in a tuppaware container  . I would say, get 2, wait a while, see if there is more room, if there is add another 2. As im not sure how big your tank is exactly.

It's a shallow dish, don't worry! I'll be sure to keep them away from water too deep! And I'll probably stick with 2. If there's room I might eventually get a third one but I probably wouldn't get 4...

Okay, just didnt want you to lose a Anole the same stupid way i did. Make sure you sex them before purchasing them!

I think my pet store has two males in one terrarium  At least they did last time I was there. Would this have any side effects after they're seperated? (one getting bought my me ^.^) I'll probably just get females, but if I do get a male and they decide to breed; how many eggs and how often? Setting up this terrarium was rather cheap; if there are babies I could probably turn one of my spare 10gallons into another anole terra- I always have spare 10g's because people won't stop getting them for me for birthdays/christmas! I never know what to do with such a small tank...

Lol! I was given a 55gallon tank for my 14th( this august) birthday, but had no money to mess with it, so i sold it for 40 dollars! I also have a spare 2.5 gallon, and a 10g lying around from people giving it to me. I guess being young has it's advantage's tank wise, but why cant they give me money to fill it????? Okay, enough rambling! The female will probably lay 2 to 4 eggs. She will typically lay them around a inch down. If you plan on moving the eggs, dont roll them over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The babies will typically hatch in 45 days( i think). Any other questions?

Is it safe to give the plant Miracle Gro?

(EDIT: I'm still messing with the lighting to get the right temperature; and it's going slow because the store closes at 5:30PM and it's hard for me to get there very often. I can go tomorrow- I'll get another vine and a bulb with lower wattage then.)

No, they lizard might eat the miracle grow, and they will die. Also, the cricket's might eat the miracle grow, adn they will either die soon, or get eaten by the lizard, and then the lizard will die. My garden outside seem's to fair well with natural fertilizer. Try using coffee grind's( coffee is delcious), or try using fish tank water( always full of nutrients). Anything else?

I never would have thought of that! I've got plenty of both XD

I'm going to the pet shop in about half an hour for a cooler light bulb and more vine.

Lol, who dosent like coffee?!!!!!!!! Cant wait to seen new pic's of the tank!!!!!!!! Try gettign a suction cup terrace( like a piece of nylon that is suction cupped to the corner), my anoles always loved them. They usually bask on them. They do like them around 5 inches up though!

 I seem to have lost my camera!

Bo(petshop owner) discouraged me from getting more vines because the Anoles can jump really far(any confirmation of this?) and it would probably escape every time I open the terrarium o_O
So I didn't get another vine(they're expensive anyway) but when I find my pruning shears I'll grab some branches from the big tree in my yard.
My pet shop doesn't have suction cup terraces :(

I've finally settled on a heat lamp bulb; there are 4 heat zones! From hottest to coldest in fahrenheit;
[85-88] The highest point under the light is usually at 85
[80-85] This is a basking space on the floor
[75-85] Under the plant and in the front right corner the temperature varys greatly depending on humidity
[73-77] In and around the water dish is usually 75 but can be affected by water level
However the lamp takes a long while to get to full heat(about an hour, give or take 15 minutes) Should I get a weak black light so the terrarium doesn't get too cold at night? (my room is quite cold, usually around 60F in winter and fall and 65-70F in spring and summer  )

They can jump very far, but when you open the lid, the are usally to scared to jump out. Lot's of heat zones!!!!!! Go you!!!!!( and anole's). Also, my room got around 60 at night when i still had the lizards, and they made it, but if you really want to, you can get a black light( probably a good idea). Anoles are REALLY fast, so you raelly dont want them to escape. When you get crickets for them, try getting some "dust" which is basically a Calcium Formula for lizards, so when they eat the cricket's, they eat the powder. It help's keep there bones ston g, as in my experience, anoles are very susceptable to MTBD( Metabalic Bone Disease) : http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/reptilesgen...metabolicbd.htm
Hope this Helps! I also hope you find your camera!
