I got my first SW fish EVER today! I dont have a thread and don't know many locals with SW tanks so I thought I would share my exitement with people in my favorite forum. It is only a green chromis in an Aquapod 24 but im excited at the start of a long fascination/hobby of SW fish and reef care. Couldn't have done it without reading all the insightful threads of everyone here. Especially Steelhealr (Im sure you've heard it a million times).

Dude I was excited with getting my first rock, that was still the most magical thing ever hah. Congrats on everything Tim, glad you read up and everything before jumping into the hobby. You're right though...this is the beginning of a long road of awesomeness :D

Ooh exciting! I am also setting up my first marine tank....
Haven't got to your stage of adding fish yet, but i'm excited with my addition of snails and cleaner shrimp!! :hyper:

Good luck with yours!
Laura

dont be surprised to see more chromis's in there soon :). They like to be in groups

well to a very fascinating hobby. I can remember getting my first SW fish, it was a clown. Anyways good luck with it all and take your time adding more livestock ;)

Thanks everyone! I have read that the Chromis prefer to be in groups. Will it stress the lil guy to be left in there alone for a while when the tank is maturing further? I dont want to rush any further additions but also dont want to stress the fish. As of right now, I havent been able to get him to eat. Ive been feeding small pellets which he either doesnt see or, on 2 occasions, he grabbed it then spit it out. Gonna try maybe flake tomorrow but he never really goes to the surface or notices anything up there. We'll see what happens?

Try feeding it some brineshrimp mixed in garlic, im sure it will give it a go. It may not be eating due to stress and can take a few days for it to settle in! Or maybe it not keen on the pellets so you may have to try a variety of foods before it decides to eat!

Thanks, I had been using Ocean Nutrition Formula One Marine Pellet. I thought it should be a good choice with the garlic infused but no luck ha. I'll have to head up to the LFS get different food. The Chromis seems to be trying to eat debris floating by and attempted the pellet but spit it out. We'll see what happens with some brine shrimp tonite! Thanks again!

Tim

Put EVERYTHING else on hold..... you are going to spend hours just staring into your new microscopic world and will see something new each time.

Picked up some brine shrimp today... SUCCESS! He ate it without any hesitation at all. He kept swimming into the dropper i was using to feed him. Thanks everyone for your tips!

Just remember brine shrimp aren't all that nutritious, so try to get him on something like mysis. :D

I was so excited when I got my first fish (a jawfish)... unfortunately he didn't make it, but hopefully you'll have better luck.
