Well I have finally got my first ever fish tank looking how I want (apart from the background I got one off ebay which is really bad quality and looks crap :( )

I know most on here seem to prefer a "natural look" but I don't, I do a degree in Roman/Greek history, my tank reflects this and I love it :) Hopefully I can find a similar background but of a much higher quality (so you can actually see it) and then my tank will look perfect.

I know its a modest attempt compared to many on here but for a first ever try I think its nice, comments are welcome :good:

this look really nice you should try and put some taller plants in then it would look even better, love the pot it gives them somewhere to hide!! :D

Looks really good! once the water clears up a bit you might be able to see the background more. Like the roman theme. :good:

Thanks :) I had sword plants but they just died not sure why though. yea the pot is good for the more shy fish, the coliseum is also hollow and even my platy's can swim in and out of it, I think it will be a good place for any baby fish to hide.

Thanks :)

2 platy's, 2 guppy's, 5 Rummynose Tetra's, a balloon molly and a frog. I want to get 7 Pygmy Corys and then that will be my tank pretty much as I want it.

looks great :good:

If live plants aren't working for you, you could always use fake ones? :)

I don't like fake plants, all my other plants (I have about 10) are fine just for some reason the swords died, I really have no idea why :/

Most swords are grown hydroponically and will die back upon being submerged in the aquarium, only to sprout aquatic leaves a few days to a couple of weeks later. The other thing about swords is when you plant the the crown (where the roots meet the stems) needs to be just above the substrate otherwise they tend to rot and die. I hope this helps out.

My tank is looking much better now though no tall plants yet. This is how it looks at the moment:

Psyduck the Balloon Molly (he reminded me of a pokemon)And My "Dalmation molly" (Ok that isnt a real breed of fish but he reminds of a Datamation dog and I think he is lovely) One of my Platys also managed to be sneak into that picture.

This is the closest I could get to a good picture of my Rummynose tetras, they are beautiful fish, but they never sit still.

I also have two frogs (one of which went on an adventure though the house last night) but they always hide for most of the day so I couldn't get a picture of them
