So after having a 200L community cichlid tank for a while, my cousin gave me a smaller 30 litre tank that he wasnt using. I was torn between a Betta/Shrimp/Dwarf puffers...

The betta prevailed! Here's my first male:

Then soon after, I bought another identical tank for the purposes of a shrimp tank.. which was a disaster as it seems my water isnt right for them (stats are fine, but they just died!).. So I decided on dwarf puffers.. But I couldn't find any local and I also wanted to mature the tank up first as they are messy brats! So I bought 4 female bettas to try my hand at breeding/while I wait for some puffers... Enjoy! (Excuse the unclean glass.. was soon after water change etc)

OK, first off, gorgeous fish!
Secondly... absolutely amazing photography! You must have a kick-butt camera :fun: (jealous)

Lovely fish, however i think you may have a male or 2 in your females, there ventrals are awful long for females and they have the mark on there cheecks from flaring alot which IME females don't tend to get

Ive not noticed much aggression between the 4, just the occasional fast movement at feeding time. The one I did see flare was flaring at the glass and its own reflection. I'll monitor the situation thanks!

Definitely worth keeping an eye on, they look young so probably too early to tell 100%, either way you have some lovely Bettas there :)
