I am so excited, I have owned betta for many years but finally decided to breed some. I have adequate room for all and I'm just so excited! I didn't want to get my hopes up but now about 30 hrs after the spawn I've seen my first dozen fry. Their daddy is doing so well and he didn't get a nip on his pretty fins from their courtship. The mama had a little bite out of her tail but overall everything went well.
These are the proud parents... King Henry and Coleen.
I hope a bunch live, when they were eggs it seemed like there were only fifty or so, but maybe some were hiding well. Also, Henry made 3 nests!! And the babies are spread out through all of them so he's constantly missing some fry/eggs as they fall. Silly fish.
Also, they seemed to do a lot of sideways wrapping during the spawn, he never actually flipped her completely upside down. Obviously the eggs were fertilized but I was curious if anyone else has this happen with their betta.
Yah!!
