At the same time as the fry were born lots of little yellow pods/balls occured as well, does anyone have any idea what they are?

My first time posting in here so I hope I have got it right

I did wonder that, on closer inspection they seem to be clear balls, with a bit of yellow (presumably the original yolk)

Yep, they're eggs. The day before my most recent litter showed up I found half a dozen or so unfertilized eggs--completely clear yellow balls with some tiny little bubbly-looking stuff at the top--on the bottom of the tank. At the time I wasn't sure what they were so I netted them and put them in a breeder box; by the next day they had lost the yellow color and were starting to get fungusy.

Eggs are definitely not something that you really want to be seeing with livebearers (we want lots of wiggly little fry!), but if the female is still giving birth to healthy fry, then everything's probably fine. :)

I'm going to be posting some balloon fry pics pretty soon, and I'll be including the egg shots that I took.

Rarely will you ever see it, but the eggs, may sometimes result in fry even if not developed fully in the mother. I can't wait to see those pictures.
