Well after a lot of waiting around for things to get together for this tank i'm now just over one month into my first scape, here are pics of the intial planting then a pic 5 weeks later, i added the barteri nana and java moss 1 week after the initial planting, and sorry about the quality of the first pic, it was taken on my old camera.

I would love to hear your opinions

Below is a new picture, the tank is now at 7 weeks and since the 5 week pic i've added masses of Blyxa Japonica and some Cabomba and some java moss to cover the cut ends of the wood

I think i'm on 10 weeks now, theres not much change from 7 weeks but in the next couple of weeks there should be a positive change with some new plants to replace the Cabomba and some new foreground plants.

Its a long way off finished but its getting there, i need some more java moss to hide the cut ends of the wood. Also i need to fill the gap behind the inner side of the wood on the left, i'v had 2 lots of blyxa japonica mailed to me but both have arrived in terrible conditions and haven't survived. Any ides are welcome.

If your interested in taking a look at my low tech tank and my new puffers then click here:

LOOK AT THE CHANGE!!
Your tanks looking good.

That looks class, well done :good:

Blyxa doesnt travel well and it can be hard to get started aswell. Instead you could try echinodorous tennelus

look in the buy sell swap, tacklebury selling ALOT of java moss for £5.00, i got some this week, i got LOADS! and its great quality!

and the tank looks fabulous!

Thanks guys, I'm quietly chuffed with it so far  Thanks for the plant advice also - the blyxa thing has been driving me insane.

There's Blyxa for sale on UKAPS, I got some and it's amazing stuff, huge amount of it too!

Thanks Gav, i've just PM'd him, hopefully he has some left.

Stuning!!! :yahoo:

Thanks Bigpig, I live with my girlfriend and a mate and they couldn't give a crap about this kind of thing so all my time and effort never gets appreciated - its fantastic too see comments like these from people that appreciate how hard this kind of stuff is.

I feel your pain here. My hubby is completely disinterested in my tanks and fish. The tank is looking great!

amazing!! whats your stocking list atm??

thanks, eh 10 amano shrimp, 13 rummy nosed tetras and 8 Xiphophorus nezahualcoyotl (a rare swordtail) which had fry for only the second time yesterday :hyper:

what lighting and substrate do you have?

The lighting is a arcadia T5 luminaire and the substrate is Caribsea EcoComplete.

Thanks for that, its so frustrating aye, so much time, effort, worry, joy and money - it makes it all worth while though when somebody comes into your house and see's it and just says wow

I just updated the thread with a new picture (7 weeks after initial planting), i'd love to hear some opinions, I'm not sure about the Camomba - although the new fry are using it as protection so it will have to stay for at least two weeks.

Never give up on Blyxa. It melts terribly. Keep replanting it until it resprouts.

Looks good. Well done
