My Diy Frag Tank

Yes, rock band drum sticks! :)

Looks good so long as snails and algae are not allowed into the frag tank ;)

Here it is! I siliconed the dividers in over the weekend. The center pannel can come out if needed. I designed it so I could have an algae area seperate to the frag tank area. Or I could take the glass out and have one large area. No silicone can be seen on this center pannel.

My first silicone attempt was so poor, I wont scare you with the photo!

I mixed up the new water over the past 2 days, using a new salt. I used to use Red Sea Coral Pro, I now switched to D&D H2ocean. Better mag and cal levels.

The new frag tank is 39x10x10"

looks like you have been busy then alex are you going to frag soft corals or are you going to do a lot of diffrent corals

regards scott

Start with softies but aim to do any corals. Need to move the 2nd half of my nemi up there also, the ### thing getting huge. Would like a green BTA maybe :p

Alex, I'd STRONGLY reccomend you cover that drain on the left with a weir or box of some kind. Cause if algae gets in the drain and clogs it, you'll have an awfully low display tank and a wet floor...

If you look in the corneer where there is a pvc standpipe, the glass section is a weir box, you could use glass with a weir comb or acrylic and a weir comb.

This is a weir comb - the black comb part.

I got ya, thanks. So just a comb to keep any blockage out the way?

Got a question on lighting. I got an arcadia 3x 39w T5 luminair for £20. Will this be sufficient light in a 10" deep tank, or will I need more? I want good growth and colour, and be able to keep any type of coral.

Depends, how shallow are you going to keep the frags? Are you going to situate them on a tray? If so, you can prop the tray up a bit in the tank and it'll be more than enough light.
