Hi guys,
Thought I'd update everyone on my tank.....I started fish keeping about 2 years ago with a lot of passion, but unfortunately a promotion and move and now building a house got in the way of my passion and the fish tank got pushed down the list of priorities. Over the last couple of weeks I've made some time to devote to the tank and have re-vamped it a bit. So, I thought I would upload some pictures and a video.
Tank details:
4ft long, approx 200litre capacity
Been running for 2 years, 0 ammonia and nitrite, nitrates generally hover around 40 (have nitrates in my tap water).
Tank inhabitants:
12 neon tetras
9 rummynose tetras
6 hengeli rasbora
2 glowlight tetra (last two from initial school)
2 black neon tetra (last two from initial school)
3 danios
2 neon rainbowfish
Approx 10 platies (mix of males/females)
7 swordtails (3 males, 4 females)
4 japanese blue endlers (2 male; 2 female) - only recently placed in the tank as I had to decommission one of my other tanks.
1 clown loach
The clown loach, glowlights, black neons, rainbowfish and danios were either from my original stocking list or given to me by friends who decided to stop fishkeeping. I will not replace them when they finally pass away. I understand the clown loach should be in a group and will get massive, but he was one of the very first fish I got before I did my research. I am planning to get a bigger tank for him. Please don't criticise me for the clown loach!
I will maintain this tank with the neons, rummynose, hengeli (will bump up their numbers once some of the other species finally pass) as my three schooling species and the platies and swordtails.
Plants
Mainly live plants. Java fern and java moss tied onto a piece of driftwood. Thin val, elodea and pennywort. A crypt of some kind (unsure), and an anubias attached to a rock. I have some fake floating plants to provide some shade for fish and protection for fry (am thinking of getting some riccia to have floating to help absorb the nitrates).
Filtration
I have an aqua one nautilus external filter and change approximately 30-40% of the water weekly. They are fed once a day with a variety of food (flakes and pellets are the staple) including frozen bloodworms once a week.
Photos and videos coming in the next few posts (once I resize them!)
