hi i have a c.a.e he's about 4inches long and i picture of health but refuses to eat algae tabs that i give him
he just goes sucking around on pea gravel stones in my goldfish tank, im just wondering how does he survive? as there is not much algae in the tank.

I've had to remove him from the main tank which house goldfish as they were being tormented by him as he is quite aggressive towards them.

I don't know what to do with him. Any suggestions?

Em.... maybe hes doesnt like the pellets . He probleys survies on the algae it may not look like theres much in the tank but trust me the sucker and see more than the human eye!!!!!! Get him some different food and see if hes eats it but if hes surving with out food id say hes ok!! B)

I have also read that as the chinese algae eaters grow, they become less interested in algae and more interested in other foods. This can include anything left over by your other fish-or the fish themselves.

Make sure that the tank mates are capable of handling themselves! He may be losing interest in algae.

CAE's do worse than become interested in other foods ... they become interested in other fish! You are going to find dead goldfish if you leave it in there.

My loach (im sure he is one but im gonna start a new topic) also cant eat the algae wafers like the plecos, so i crunch then up, and when he finds one, he presses it against the glass and scrapes away at it.

I've just realised that this git is the reason why my tank is so scratched up (got sand) :grr:

unfortunely i will have to give the c.a.e away to a new home as i dont have enough algae to keep him occupy him and he's attacking my goldfish around the hex tank!!! 1 goldie has died already :( so i have put him in a spare tank by himself until i can find him a new home, do you think the pet shop i got him from 6 months ago will take him back?
