My Birthday

Well its my birthday next week and it is not going to be a good time so I need to buy something to cheer me up. Chris is sending me some lovely corals which will be a nice thing to receive on Wednesday
But my heart was set on getting my clown fish for my birthday which I now can't get as have very high nirtate in my tank due to the move so am gutted. My birthday is going to be a complete disaster because I had so many plans which I now can't do! Just looked at trains to London and its like £50 what a joke!

Sooooo give me an idea on something I can maybe ask my brother to get me that isn't too expensive but is still exciting!

How high is the nitrate? Tbh I would worry less about the nitrate + clown then I would nitrate + coral.

Do some nice WC's and if it's only nitrate your getting a reading from then you will be good for a fish, obviously nitrate without any nitrite or ammonia is a good thing
No nitrate is better so start WCing

Well I posted a pic as the test was 2nd hand and didnt have the colour card. Not tested amm or nitrite as no tests for them yet. I am doing a WC today to try and get Nitrates down a little! I am worried about corals but actualy all of mine look perfect atm! Maybe I should wait for them and not get them next week? Just I know Chris would like to shut down!
What do you think? I will do some changes today and tomorrow and then get amm and nitrite tested at lfs monday

Where is the pick of the test?

Don't worry I have seen it. So it's about 25ppm which is a bit high but not insane.

A clown would not be fazed at all by that amount of nitrate, softies would be starting to suffer if it went higher. LPS and SPS would be very cheesed off.

Do you WC and then retest.

Also have you put any thought into putting some macro algae in the tank? What with a certain mod recently creating a journal I have looked quite deeply into them and have deemed them a good idea! This is obviously good

I have chaeto in there thats the ony green stuff! haha
I don't know where around here I could get some macros, and that certain mod has aready made me wonder about a nice green marine tank to replace my planted one I have to sell! haha

I just need to get my tank sorted at the moment, starting to fall in love with it again now which is a good thing! Just want to perk it up and get it back on track!

I agree with the dark Lord - do you water change and buy your clowns acclimatise them over a three hour period, bit longer than normal.
