My betta is sick...help!

My tanks are impeccably maintained. I've had about 8 or 9 bettas and they all died of old age between 3-6 years old. I have had other fish in other tanks die every now and then, but it's only one here and there
how did I not read this before smh....
omg....
other 3 letter abbreviations for whole words...
Fish don't just "die here and there" in an impeccable environment, fish can live easily 20 plus years depending what kind lol If they were impeccably maintained though and you had no problems you wouldn't have made this thread
smh
omg....

I'd recommend stopping the Melafix treatment, it can be harmful to anabantoids.
He could be stressed due to the embers, or it could be a problem with the ammonia levels.

No, there is another explanation. As I stated earlier, my point 25 trace amount of ammonia is in the tap water itself.

Tank is cycled and has excellent water quality.

So do you get rid of the ammonia before you put it in the tank? Sorry if I misread your post.

No. The ammonia seems impossible to get rid of. It's a mystery. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'd love to get rid of it. Although, all sources around here tell me that .25 is insignificant....but I'd still like to have ZERO.
