My Aqua One 510 (75l)

will the 4 cory's I have in there be okay in the tank with some shrimps ?

Thinking that with the tank going so heavily planted, its going to be harder to keep the gravel clean so anything I can put in there to help clear up the rubbish on the bottom the better.

Whats people's thoughts ?

Hi
Lovely looking tank. I have the led lights too but mine are the hagen ones without the air pump in them.
I have two blu giving a moonlight look but also two red for better nighttime viewing. I don't leave these on aswell as my other lights in the day as I am not certain if they affect your lighting (wpg) in any way. I also was not sure on the colour spectrum, whether they would cause algae.

Looking good.

My blue lights dont have the air pump in them either, I know also have 3 in there. I have cut down the amount of time they are on during the night and they are not on at all during the day now, I have noticed that the leaves they shine directly on dont seem to be photsynthisising like they should and seem at those point that are illuminated by the blue to be going yellow/white, its really weird.

well its almost that time....... for a complete revamp of my tank !!!!

I have to move it from the back double room (which was our chill-out room) to the front single room which was my other halves dressing room (dont ask !!!), so I think I will take this chance to give it a complete redesign.

I have just ordered API Pure Laterite for my substrate and I have a large piece of wood soaking as I type out in the back garden, but will bring it in soon to put the spare heater in with it to try speed up the process. So my choices are as follows :

1. Clear out gravel I currently have in there, place in laterite and then put in the same gravel or change from existing gravel to sand
2. Keep existing piece of wood in the tank on its own or add the new piece or have both.

I have two concerns about all this however :

1. Due to the time this will take and the fact that I will need to put in fresh water as I dont have a storage container that will keep the 75l at temp (I have 2x 25l, so this will be fun). I will need to keep the fish in a B&Q orange bucket probably overnight while I do this and I can have my spare heater in there with them - Will they be okay ?
2. If I do change to sand, does all the rubbish stay on top of the sand ? How do you syphon filter sand to stop it coming right through the syphon and also stop it mixing in with the laterite ?

Let me know your thoughts to all 4 points. any help would be greatly appreciated.

anyone else have any advice as noted above about the move ???

Got my Laterite this morning and had to order a new heater from evil-bay to heat my water change water as my spare decided to shatter last night while setting up for a change, more money again but got it for £10 for a 100w heater, so not as bad as I thought it might be.

Going to put my big new piece of wood in the tank tonight I think to look at the size of it etc and then it will leech colour faster but it doesnt really matter as I will replacing all the water anyway when i move the tank.

I have a blue plastic tray box thing that I can put the fish in instead of a 12l bucket, so I could use that I guess, it might be deep enough with my old stingray filter and can also put an airstone in there too with a couple of hidy places in case the fish get stress, as for a lid.... mmmmm there isnt one, would cling-film do it ????????
