My latest member to the family is a Amel Motley Corn Snake hatchling. Unfortunately i dont have any pics yet but i will try to get some up in the next few days :good:

Any comments or questions welcome

Tarantula venom is actually no worse than a bee sting. They cant kill people unless that person is ellergic to bee stings and insect bits. Its just an old wifes tale. That goes for all tarantulas :good:

I watched a programme and someone asked about the bite and he said the same.
Normal garden spiders are poisonous but their fangs can't pierce our skin

Yea thats right, well sort of. That dosent apply to all garden spiders. One of the worlds deadliest spiders is a particular species of garden spider which is far too small for its fangs to penitrate our skin so its considered harmless. I forget the name of it now.
I think the worlds most dangerous still goes to the black widow. Dont quote me on that tho

With Tarantulas, you get "New world Tarantulas and "Old World" Tarantulas.
My Fireleg and Chilean Rose are New World, and my Goliath is Old World.

New world Tarantuls are more placid, smaller and there bites are like a bee sting
Old world Tarantulas are normally very aggressive, very big and there bits can be alot more painful and cause extreme swelling, but still harmless. Wont kill ya. :hyper:

The Goliath, the last spider is about the size of a A3 sheet of paper, maybe abit smaller. Thats with all its legs spread.
Largest recorded had a leg span off 22inches!!!

My Fireleg is about the size of an adult mans hand and my Rose is half that size as shes still very young.

All my spiders are female

What do you keep the goliath in?

I can't go near the ones i find in my shed....let alone that beast!

Tarantula's are the pussy cats of the spider world, such beautiful and delicate animals, I'd rather be bitten than have the hairs from their hind find their way into my lungs if I'm honest, the irritation is horrible, the worst has to be the Funnel Web Spider, as well as the most potent that I have come across. The Mexican Fire Leg is just beautiful.

Thank you :good: Yes the hairs are very ichy and irritable i agree. They are worst off the Goliath!! Never breathed them in but somehow got them all down my back once and around my neck. OMG was horrid. Iching powder used to be tarantula hairs many many many years ago

Tell you, it itches like heck when they flick hairs at you like lots of mini darts though!!

Im terrified of spiders, well... kind of, im not scared of them but my parents encouraged it all the time, pretending to chase me with them until i cried and was sick. Cruelty to kids!

After 23 years of being plain... scared of the beasties but fascinated by them, i held a friends Curley Hair tarantula, well... it kinda walked over my hands and back again, it was warm...fluffy, about the weight of a small hamster and it just kind of strolled... and the way they walked, it only seemd to have 4-6 legs on my hand at one time so... it just felt like a slow hamster plodding accross my hand! Bit of an anticlimax really!

I got my friend a male Togo Starburst Tarantula sling, cant get over how fast he is growing, he is an absolute pig!

This is what he will eventually look like:

Yes they are very light and do walk very gently i kno what you mean. But they still make my heart race sometimes when they suddenly run unexpectedly  :hyper:

Starbursts are old worlds, it will get very big and will probably prefer pinkys rather than locus. Do you know if its male or female?? Very attractive spiders :good:
