Hi

My tank has been going for 2 months now, plants have settle in, the fish seem happy. I've heard that the betta and the dwarf gourami would fight, but these guys completely ignore each other!

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
Yeah, I know some don't like cheesy ornaments, but I kinda like the divers helmet. It also is a great hiding place for my bamboo shrimp!

lovely looking setup, very nice, i would have said the gourami and the betta would be unsuitable tank mates, but they do have very individual characters, i know a betta thats killed all its tanks mates, platys all sorts that they dont normally bother about, it could also be that they are both new to the set and not developed their own territories and things could change, di

Very nice looking tank you have there... wouldn't belive it's only been setup two months! :good:

Thanks! Luckily I had some really good advice about the plants from a guy at the fish shop before I started out. They've just gone bananas. Read about landscaping your tank on this forum, helped me alot too.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on those two. I'm hoping because they're wildly different colours they wont recognise each other as an opponent...
When the betta first arrived, he was flaring at everyone, including the platys. But he's calmed down now, havent seen him flare once since.

looks spot on like a mature system
the dark substrate doesn;t half make a difference!!

well done!

Great looking aquarium - and great picture of the dwarf and beta! How big is your tank? Did you fishless cycle it, and, if so, how long did it take?

Thanks! It's 120 litres. I cycled the tank for 1 week using some of that safestart stuff, as well as a peice of shrimp. After a week of that, I introduced some platys. So all-in-all it took 2-3 weeks to cycle, with lots of water changes.

Hopfuly you have a peaceful beta and you can keep him :good:.

Do you use any fertilizers in your tank?

I use Ferropol sand under the gravel, Ferropol fertiliser for water changes, a daily fertiliser, and I inject CO2...Once it's going, it's not so much work. It's just the little things you do that keep the plants happy!
