Ok, not that scary...
Just a freaky coloured snail that popped up in my tank, I guess it's a genetic mutant with a clear shell... never seen a trumpet snail with a clear shell before :). And no, before you ask, it's not just a dead empty shell, there's definitely a snail in there.
EDIT: BTW, they're eating a fish skeleton... apparently one of my last remaining white clouds died last night and that's all that's left by this morning. Beware the power of the snails.

When they get clear like that, I think it's from lack of calcium. Mine always seemed to die after their shells went weird like that.

I'm not 100% sure, just what I recall reading.

Wow... that's an awesome looking snail! Normally, I'm not that big of a snail fan, but that one is sure cool looking!

Normally, yes, but as you can see all the other snails are fine and his shell is intact, so I don't think that's the case here. It's not flaking like one with a calcium deficiency either, just... clear-like . Kinda looks like a blue mystery snail to me, only in trumpet snail form.

A while ago someone was selling pink mts on ebay so variations must occur. If you find any more this colour you could make a fortune as the pink ones were selling for silly money.

Emma :)

.... How much silly money? :shifty:
I was planning on just leaving it in the tank and waiting to see if any more pop up in the next couple of generations, but since I have a 5 week old betta spawn going on I might actually transfer it and a couple of others to that tank and start a separate breeding colony next time I see it above the sustrate. I bet you could breed for it and get more like it in the F2

you need to breed that thing asap!!! you will definately make "silly" money with some of those! i'd buy them!

murderers!

No, they probably consumed the fish after it fell to the floor.

Nice snail though synirr. Its gorgeous! Maybe the external layer (the brown colour) has rubbed off. Thats wicked though! :D I also like the pic cause you can see the skeleton of the fish. They certainly are opportunistic, and dont leave anything to go to waste.

Looks like parts of the other snails shells are almost the same color. Maybe im seeing things. Either way very nice snail, ill buy some if u can breed them

What is it with you and mutants? :p

He's gorgeous. I wish my mts looked like that. He almost looks like he's made out of ice.

I would definitely buy some. I don't know about silly money, I'm a student, but definitely good money. I would pay even more if you could assure me they bred true.

Carl
