Musical tanks?

When playing musical tanks with your fish, ie moving from one tank to another whats your preferred method? I usually use a bag one my fishies came from the LFS in but I sort of wonder about the saftey aspect with bacteria growing in the bag etc.

I normally use a measuring jug, the bags from shops are normally tied up so you have to tear them to open them.

i use bags or little buckets we use to do water changes

I usually use a bowl (it's been designated for fish only) with water from it's current aquarium and slowly add a little water from it's new home until I think it's about adjusted to the water temperature (if there's any change), then I add it and keep an eye on it to make sure it's new neighbours aren't picking on it or vice versa.

I have a stock of bags so just use them. If you ask your LFS they should give you some.

If they are going from one tank to another in the same room, & the tanks are within a degree or 2 of each other, I just net them & walk them over. If there is a temperature difference I have a collection of cups & containers to put some of their tank water in & clip to the inside of their new home so the temp change is more gradual. If I'm pulling bigger fish, usually a pair to spawn, from the only tank upstairs to go downstairs I use a bucket.
