For the last 2 days, my mushies wont fully open. They shrink at night and open a bit when the lights turn on, but they arent fully extending and opening. My water parameters are fine, my SG is 1.023, ammo 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5ppm. They still have their color, and arent excreting anything. any ideas?

Have you recently moved them or moved any powerheads? When I re-scaped my tank and moved my mushies they ended up in an area with a higher flowrate than they were used to and wouldn't fully open. This was partially done on purpose by me to try and get them to make babies! Last night I re-adjusted some rocks I wasn't happy with and moved the mushies into a slightly lower flow area and today they are open more than I've ever seen them!

Also I have found that mine tend to go through cycles of being wide open and being more closed.

Ah HA! you know what, i have done something with a powerhead. I took it out to clear away the intake and when i did, i removed the fan nozzle, leaving it just wide open...i'll try replacing it!

Thanks!!

Yeah, mushies are one of the few corals that prefer low flows and can thrive in near dead areas.

i put the fan nozzle back on this morning, and around lunch time, they had opened back up to their normal size

thanks for the diagnosis :) :good:
