I have 30 new 1.5 feet square tanks that I got on the cheap. I'm starting out with about half a dozen, and plan to grow to maybe a dozen or more over the next few months and sell the rest. I know the manager of a local pet and produce store and he is willing to buy the fish. These tanks will be housed in an industrial sized shed at the back of our rural property. For tanks that size I thought I would need 100w heaters but some say 50w. There's 2 or 3 dollars difference in between sizes of heaters either way I guess electricity will be used at the same rate or am I wrong? Just wondering on the output (L/min or hr) for a pump I should get bearing in mind I might need to buy a second as a backup in case of failure or if I need more of my tanks. A guy at an aquarium supplies store recommended a RESUN / Unistar LP-40.

If you are putting the tanks into an unheated building, it will take a large heater to keep up and would probably be prohibitively expensive to heat them all. On the other hand, if the building is heated, it will usually be cheaper to raise the room temperature than to heat each tank individually. The electricity for tank heating can get quite expensive on a large scale.
