hi there I am moving house in a couple of months and I have a 60 litre tank. I have 17 fish in it and am looking for advice on what to do when the changeover day arrives to move? anyones advice would be grateful.
How far away are your moving? If it's a 6 hour trip or less your fish will probably be fine just bagged up as they were when you brought them home from the pet store. I'd suggest a Styrofoam cooler to keep the bags insulated; should it be uncomfortably hot or cold. As for the tank, is what i did with my little 10g's was suck out the water and transport them as they were; equipment and all. I saved a couple gallons of the tank water in empty milk jugs so that it wouldn't be hard on the fish to be reintroduced once the tanks were up an running again. I'm sure there are others here who'll have more to add, but I have had no problems moving my tanks this way.
yeah that thread will help a lot I will read it in detail later. I am moving 5 minutes away so I am hoping the changeover will be nice and easy, thanks for advice
If there's any way to get into your new house a day or more before the actual move, I strongly suggest you move the tank in then. It's much less stressful to do when you don't have to deal with furniture and other belongings in the car, at the same time.
