Since I am moving the fish that are in my 29 gallon (in my brother's room two rooms down from mine) I was wondering what would be the best way to get them into the 120 once it has cycled. The water temps and everything is the same like PH since I used the same water from the tap for both tanks.

I was thinking of netting each one and putting them in a large bucket half full of their water then slowly pour some of the water from my 120 gallon into the bucket then keep doing it until the bucket is pretty full then just put the bucket or bowl into the 120 gallon. :dunno:

That would work, depending on the size of the fish, i would probably put them in a bag then let it sit in the water for 5 mins, then every minute or two add a little bit of water from the 120. Than finally after 10 mins pour it in. Just my 2 cents

If you have no intentions on keeping fish in the 29, I would use all the water, all the subtrate and all the filtration, as to facilitate in the Nitrogen Cycle for the new aquarium (120). They make BioSpira to aid in quick cycling of an aquarium.

The fish can sit in a bucket, until your new aquarium is completely set up. Be sure to provide a means of air support (Airstone) to the inhabitants that will remain in the bucket for the entire ordeal. While they sit their, they can get water dripped from the new tank, by means of air tubing.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Well I have a sand substrate so I don't just want to pour the gravel from the 29 gallon in my tank, it would be rather hard to get out. :p My little brother will be putting new fish into the 29 gallon after the fish have moved into my 120. I don't have a lot of bags and I think it stresses them out more in a tiny bag than a bucket where they can swim. They will have the airstone in there along with a few live plants and a cave.

I don't think you mentioned anything about the sand substrate in your original inquiry. :p

Good luck!

I know, I was just letting everyone know.

Yea, I will atleast leave them in the bucket to get used to the water for like 10 minutes then slowly dump them in.
