Well i moved in with the gf 20 mins from my mums house. Now i am selling my tank to buy a bigger tank and was dedicated for malawi cichlids.

Just tested the ph and kh of my new house tap water and its very soft.

Ph was at 6.0
Kh was at 1dkh it turned yellow on the first drop.

So guessing its very soft with no hardness.

Totally not what i need for africans rrr.

Now might have to rethink my stocking unless i can make it all harder and higher ph?

Or maybe if i could get a discus shoal. Anyone had discus and could review

Cheers

It's weird that the hardness is so very low.  Does the house have a water softener or something like that?  If so is there a tap somewhere before the softener?

Not that i know of. Just the area we are in, but strange how water changes from my mums which is ph 8.5 kh 6dkh.

Strange.....

Do any fish love low ph and no hardness.

Discus.

Lots of South American fish, and plenty of Asian fish as well.

Get yourself some tannin rich water, a nice planted set-up and you can have some of the most beautiful fish on the planet.  Add a group of cardinal tetras with the discus, and you are looking at an amazing tank.
