Okay, I went to my lfs to get the firemouths I ordered - and what did I get? Nothing! He forgot to order them. Well, I decided to get some other things for my other tank - a 10 gallon. I got a few more tiger barbs, so now I have 5. I splurged and bought a pair of pearl gouramis - which i was going to keep in the 10 but decided to put in the 29. Also, I bought a couple of African Cichlids, not sure what they are. Can you help me out on this? Here is one of them - not a good pic, though.

The thing is - it is orange, not yellow. The black one has stripes that have turned a lighter blue - and has some orange spots on its anal fin.

Here is a LITTLE better pic...still enormously blurry.

Jesse,

The orange fish is a red zebra, and the other from the pictures i would guess as a Ps Crabro.

You might find some of your other fish start to die / go missing on you, as africans are not a community fish, really they should only be kept with other africans from the same lake. (imho :p ).

When i first getting into malawi's (africans) i put a few into a holding tank with community fish, they killed 1 golden barb, 1 adult SAE & 1 adult bumble bee catfish before i could rehome them in another tank. :( (learn from my bad experiance)

Hope this helps

yep the orange one is a red zebra,

U need to make sure your ph is constant and preferably around 8-8.2 otherwise those colours on the Malawi's will fade. The red zebra isnt particularly aggressive but will still attack your gourami's etc

I think this is the best pic of my tank so far....I am going to get a new camera soon I hope! :D

Hi,

I've got both red zebras and crabro's in my malawi tank. My red zebra is the most aggressive fish in the tank :(

My crabro is no better.

Males and females equally aggressive.

But you never know u might get away with it. But id keep an eye on them.

(your crabro is male, and tell with the red zebra)

I think your red zebra may be male. Do his fins have a bluish tint? If so its definately male.
