Looking at even more bits to add to my rio 240, seen some "Moon Lights" on ebay

seems to have very good feedback on these, anyone else have / used / know about these.

can these be left on all night, my plan would be to have the standard tubes on in the day and these at night

i got these ones http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-AQUARIUM-LED-LIG...oQQcmdZViewItem

and have never looked back.

i have 3 sets now, still need one more tho for another tank i have.

the great things about these ones are that they are totally waterproof so can be submersed in caves etc (in my malawi tank).

they dont give the total light coverage that the ones you linked to give off but i prefer them as you can get some really cool lighting effects with the blue led beam.

also gives the fish darker ares to move into.

as for leaving them on, i dont even turn mine off during the day, let alone the night. You cant see them over normal tank lights so theres no need to really.

Sam, do you have any pics of your tanks with the led lights on?
I am going to buy these ones from the same seller as the led lights above:

Razor-opto is the best seller imho.
he supplies the moonlights with a 800ma (or better)
transformer, this is needed as anything lower burns out due to the invertor.

I've had both LEDs and cold cathode sets from him and his after sales service is next to none.
Checkout feedback by startrekpackers (me) if you want to know what I said about him.

I currently have a 36" LED setup in my 55g. They are on a timer along with my daytime lights. It doesnt have the auto dimmer though like some higher priced units. With the plants and decor, there are some darker areas in the corners for hiding spots. Since adding them I've noticed a bit more activity during the daytime. Personally if you do get one make sure it's waterproof.

"Great item, extreamly well packaged.Truly this is by far the best Ebayer going." - Your feedback :)

Can you post pics of your lights both the LED and the cold cathode kits in your tanks, i'd love to see the true difference, but its obviously hard with the flash of a camera. Hope you can take pics/have pics. Thanks..

Jarcher1390 - There isnt really a need for them, other than a) They look good when the main lights are off and the room is dark b)You can see your nocturnal fish more easily as the lights dont make them hide away as much as normal tank lights c) You can dim them so they can stay on all night and still look good, yet the fish can still 'sleep'

unfortunately my basic camera don't do low light levels
without flash it comes out black, with flash well it just looks normal

I only have one tank now with one LED and that is my 20g
all my others run cold cathodes but all go off via a timer at 1am
that way there is a true dark period for my fish

same for me its well annoying. ive wanted to show people for ages too.

i agree about razor opto too! hes class.

some of my lights got lost once in the mail and he didnt ask a single question before sending out another set.

I've mentioned this to Luke-e before, I've got LED ones in mine, from razer-opto and I must say he/she is very helpful and obliging, BUT 2 of the 6 LED's on mine are dead in under a year and I don't have the ability to replace them. I'd also point out that I leave mine on 24/7 so that may have caused them to blow out.

So I'd recommend the cold cathodes as they seem to give a better spread of light.

Wolf/Sam - Any chance of giving it ago, see how the pic turns out ;).

already have im afraid.

ill see if i can get another cam from a friend or something.

they are great tho, u jus put a set in my 3ft tank which is literally right next to my head when i sleep.

its a really nice view from in bed!!

Arfie - speak to razor opto, he mite send you replacements!

EDIT - another thing with the LED spots is they create a crazy shadow on the floor when a fish swims past. jus saw a 1m plec on my floor and shat my pants lol.
