hi there, begginer to tropical aqariums, tanks aorund 7 months old, and ive just had a batch of black mollie fry, about 20of them in a plastic breeder, with few more swimming about in tank.  first time ever so bit nervous, so ive set up a small fry tank with water from my aqarum, 5 gallons rought estimate. air pump powered sponge filter, same temparture roughly one degrees either side, no substrate, with 2 plants and some floating plants cut offs. basically the fry arent in the tank yet so just wondering when i can put them in also another question. The lighting, i think with its being such a small tank the light i think is changing the temparture. so just wondering can i just go without the light or do the fry need the light. and any tips or advice i need really for a begginer. thanks in advance

Is the 5 gallon cycled? If not, cycle it before adding the fry. For now they can stay in the plastic breeder. Depending on their size you can feed frozen baby brine shrimp or daphnia. Do you have an in tank thermometer? If you do just keep an eye on the temperature with the light on and if you see it too high just keep the light off. Room light will be enough to trigger a day/night cycle for them.

wellits got water from the aqarium that already cycled so does that class as cycled ?? if not how do i cycle the fry tank ?? i do so ill have to keep an eye on that. At the moment im feeding crushed fish flake is that enough ??
