I know not an original name for a snail, but this is Brian one of my giant african land snails, he's on a dinner plate so you can get some idea of just how huge he is

Now where did I put the Garlic Butter sauce....................... ;)

Big fella. How long have you had him? He's a land snail, so where do you keep him? I'm a curious soul.

HOLY CRAP that is a big snail! :hyper:

I have never seen anything like that before in my life!

What do you do with it, where do you keep it, where did you get it, how big was it when you got it, how big will it get, what does it eat, how old is it, how long do they live????? (yes I am inquisitive also lmao)

WOW..I am just flabbergasted. :fun:

wow thanks for the nominations guys

I have two that size and some juveniles, the adults live in an 18" tank atm but about to be upraded, the babies are living in another 18" but i'm getting rid of some of them, some going to friends and taking some into school for my colleagues.
apparently they are quite a nuisance in the usa because people have been releasing them into the wild and they have been devastating the crops so i'm making sure these littel guys stay secure

looks like hes looking straight at you
what do you keep them in, what do they eat and everything needed to look after one? i have always found snails fascinating and keep thinking about one but never found anywhere that sells them.

they are great and easy to keep, they need natural vegitation on a base of peat and sand mix, they eat anything a normal garden snail would, they love salad, and need to be sprayed once a day to keep them moist.
if your serious about owning one let me know and i'll stick one in the post.

Cool pic :)
though they really are nothing unusual to me at all - we have loads of them in our garden in South Africa - they are a pest  and can get a great deal bigger than that too

what size of container do i need. would it be easier if i googled for them? i think i will. nice of you to offer me one, will have to read up a bit first...oooo excited!!

done a bit of research and theres two types. one grows to 4 or 5 inches and the other up to 11 inches. i take it yours only get to the 4 or 5 inch mark?
they need as big a tank as you can get and i dont think mine is big enough. i have a four gallon plastic tank with ventilated lid thats about 15 inches long, so i think i will need to try and find a second hand tank first.
i will get back to you at another date about getting one as i am interested.
the site said they were illegal in america as well to be kept as pets and you cant import them either.

That snail puts you in mind of a hermit crab..It is awsome. Good luck in the contest. May the best picture win....
