Hi, I would like to ask a quick Q. Is it appropriate to mix tropical fish with goldfish. I heard that it is not reccomended.

As far as I know it can be done but is not recommended as the higher temp you'd have to keep the coldwater fish in will shorten their life span and cause health problems.

Water temperature is just one of the things that will stress out fish if it's not the correct temperature. We know that stressing fish have a lower immune system. While mixing them can be done, one or the other will suffer from stress, be more sickly, etc.

There are many other fish, which are oftentimes sold as tropicals that are actually cool/cold water fish... that can be successfully mixed with Goldfish or be kept in their own cool/cold water environment. Let us know if you want more info on those.

If you keep the temp at around 75 it will be fine for some tropical fish and fancy goldfish. This will be the lower end for tropicals and the upper end for goldfish......I wouldn't go above or below this.

That's not taking into account the colder water pond goldfish (common, comet, koi, etc) or the warmer tropicals such as discus.

You can probably get away with putting guppies and platies in there, as well as some catfish. Cories would be excellent if you use sand. :good:

Thanks everybody, but there is something wrong with my tank it is leeking from the top side. the water level is 1 cm away from a black band but the water is leeking from under the black band. i checked under the black band but there is no holes any way how can by tank leek from there when my water level is not even up to there.

If nobody else responds I would do a normal water change get some fish tank sealer
you can get it from walmart or your local lfs and make sure you let it dry before applying
fix up that corner .

Can you post pictures? From the way you are describing it, this does not seem like a leak. Maybe condensation or splashing? Or somehow leaking from your HOB filter? Pictures and more info would be very helpful.
