Mixing Shrimp

I am rearing amano & red cherry shrimps. I have read about amano will kill red cherry while cherry is molting. Not so sure about how true it is. I am keeping my shrimps in the same tank, only experienced one cherry died, not sure the caused of it. Does anyone heard about amano will kill cherry while they are molting?
Where did you hear that? It's not true, i even had amano shrimp in a small tank full of young triops about 1cm and they never touched them, even when thye moulted. In fact it was the triops that bothered the shrimp .
Amano shrimp don't kill their own kind when they moult, so why cherry shrimp?

Thank you three-fingers, I just read it in one of the thread somewhere and I thought it is true and so coincidentally the next day of reading that, one of my red cherry died, so I quickly shifted them to another tank instead of put them together with amano. Haa... At least now I am clear and no worry about keeping them together. :)
Thank you... :)

An amano shrimp killed one of my crystal red shrimp on the very day I got them, they were very small when I got them and though I tried to rescue the crs it was killed in seconds by the amano. I shouldn’t have been too surprised as when I feed daphnia from my pond to the fish I have often seen amanos kill water wood lice (sorry dont know the proper name) that get in the net so they can definitely kill baby or juvenile shrimp.

  Mine never touched live food! Even bloodworms, even though i've seen them eat frozen ones, they wouldn't touch the live ones. If your 100% sure their actually amano shrimp, then do they have enough other food -_- .

Yeah for sure they are amanos, they are easy to identify, I tend to if anything overfeed the fish and the amanos get their share. I have seen them stop eating algae wafers and catch and eat the water wood lice, mine also eat live blood worms. Usually its females that are hunters I guess to help them develop eggs, I even have a pic of one killing a water wood louse. I dont keep them with the crystal reds now, I have also read of them killing cherry shrimp babies.

This is the first time i've heard anything like this, i belive you though :X .

Yeah I thought that was a good deal :D Im defiently getting them, how much do CRS regularly cost?

I've never seen CRS here, but amano and most other shrimp are around £2 each so they would defiantly cost a little bit more than that.
Unless some appear the cheapest i can get them is $18.33 EACH    . Which is the worst price i have ever seen them.
In London people say they are around £3 ($5.79) each  .

Wow, the price went up to $13.49 + $7.00 now!! :( I guess Ill have to try something else ... unless someone would like to make a generous donation :D :good:
