MISSING Fish

keddy pie thats odd! and what a mean babysitter! :grr: When I first moved into my apartment this year my friend got me a hermit crab and one day it crawled out of its shell...and its cage which was impossible since the lid was on...I hadnt seen him for two weeks and I was worried...Just before I threw out his cage I found a random shell in my living room and there he was! Creep little critter!

Sorry just had to tell the story...I am sure your girlies are just playing mean old tricks on you...they like the shock value I think :hey: good luck

Hope you find your fish soon! When I first got Barracuda he disappeared, but we soon found him. He had gone through the tube hole and beneath the underground filter (I had taken out the tube to give him more room when I decided not to run the filter due to the swift current). After that I took all the filters out of the Aquaviews.

Oh, I do hope you find your girlies! This must be so frustrating for you!

I also have a disapearance story. My friend watched my house for a total of 2 days. I came back and she confessed she thinks she scared my upsidown catfish to death while trying to net a sparkler that had passed away.

So, I tempted the catfish (his name is Pig) with algea wafers and cucumber, even live bloodworms. No sign of him. He wasn't anywhere! I tore apart that tank. I tipped everything over, I pulled all the plants, I netted all the fish and finally, I took everything out of the tank. Still NO sign of him.

I looked briefly under my tree and my cave and under my tree I realised was hollow in some spots. There was a TINY hole not even as wide as my pinky finger. I started sawing on the hole becaue I thought for sure that Pig was dead. And finally I widened the whole big enough and tipped it over and there was pig, all pale and starved! He's fine now, but he never goes anywhere near the tree again.

So, moral is, they can shove themselves into the tiniest places. And Pig is about the size of my female bettas, so I think you should tear the tank apart and you might just find them. Look under any ornaments you have for hollow spots.

I heard this story about this kid that has some kind of shrimp ( ghosy shrimp I think) and he said he couldn't find it in his tank then 2 days later his dad said why was thier a shrimp in my office. And he said his dads office was all the way downstairs and down the hall. Then this kid also said his friends ghost shrimp went missing out for the tank for 2 months and after two months he found it still alive in that saucer thing you set plant pots in where the water drains out of the plant.

Just leave it for now and monitor the ammonia levels. If they jumped, they'd most likely be dead by now :byebye: . If they are dead in the tank, you will be able to tell by waiting for an ammonia spike or odd behaviour, rotting fish produces a lot of ammonia. If they're alive.... well, you'll get a nice suprise :)

Well, I have had the worst day ever. I went into the kitchen this morning, to feed my fry, before work. I heard a odd sound. To my very unhapppy surprise, I come to find that there is a waterfall spewing from the bottom of my 125 gallon tank. :S I hurried to get the 9 girls out. I quickly filled 2 spare 10's with water siphoned from the 125. I threw 5 in one, and 4 in the other. THen woke fiance up to help bale water out, before it all ended up on the kitchen floor. I don't know what happened, I have had it for almost 2 weeks, with no problem. I had to laugh, or I would have lost it. I was planning on emptying it this afternoon. I didn't plan on getting water all over my kitchen floor, and getting to work late, though. :dunno:

Wait it gets worse.

I moved the large castle ornament in the tank and as I had feared..... there they were. My 2 missing girls. Both dead. :byebye: I don't know how or why they wedged themselves in/under.

I was planning to breed the yellow, w/the Orange/Black DT Plakat male, I got from Yeeviabetta. Actually I had, a couple months ago, but he ate the babies -_-
I would have atleast had little Dt babies to remember her.

They were so big, I was looking for a Giant MG Male to breed with my MG DT Girl. Her body was the most beautiful Metallic Turq/green. Like a Peacock's feathers. Her name was Mrs Peacock. (CLUE)

And this may be the worst part.

I have Synirr's babies due to arrive tomorrow. 2 boys, and 8 GIRLS. The girls were soposed to go in the 125. I now have to dig up 8 temporary bowls/tanks. I hope I can get the 125 up and going again. I'll have to dry it, remove everything, find the leak, and hopefully patch it. I don't even know im my fiance will let me take the chance, filling up again.

Needless to say I am very sad. THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR IDEA'S, AND WELL WISHES.

I'm so sorry to hear that; both about your two girls and the tank, too! Can you take the tank back to the store, do you think? A defect like that has got to warrant a replacement, at least.

As to the Synirr babies, my gals lived in ice cream tubs for their first two weeks with me, so I bet that whatever you find for yours will seem like a palace by comparison :*)

I'm so sorry for your lost Many. This happen to my sister twice. The first time a goldfish got stuck in those colorful plastic toys with holes and died. The second time another goldfish got stuck in the same toy and died. Again, I'm truly sorry for your lost :(

Once my little sister tried to "water" my betta, and he couldn't get any air, so he jumped up into the hood. (this may be totally off topic...)
