Before I went to work this morning I noticed one of the young sterbies has a missing eye

, dont know what has caused this any ideas?

S/he seems fine atm going around with a couple of other sterbies, but worried that it may get infected or something. Feel a shame for the little one the pain it must be going through.

Who else is in the tank?

Clean water should be about all the fish needs.  This happens quite often.  And the fish will survive just fine without it.  The only real question is why did it happen, which is why I asked about tankmates.

I have a large angel fish a Common plec, clown loaches a bleeding heart tetra a female krib, a synodontis hybrid, neon and glowlight tetras and danios.

I can only think that they do that mad flick on there side and some how has caught its eye on something.

ive seen plecos chase cories round the tank maybe he got into a sharp object swimming away

Indian Almond leaves can be of good use being a kind of natural antibiotic / anti fungal. Lots of strorys of Corys living a good and healthy life though missing one (one even two) eyes.

My BN pleco never 'chases' the cories, he more or less 'shoos' them away.  Not really a 'chase'.  My cories just step aside and then continue to feed next to him.

S/he looks to be ok acting and feeding normally. The eye area seems to be healing.
Ive never seen my plecos or any other fish take any notice of the cories, so Im putting the injury down to a fake hollow log that I have in the tank as it does have a few sharp edges to it and will be removed when I can build a natural hide for my plec and clown loaches.

many thanks
