Miniature bettas???

Well, at least if someone somewhere along the line decides to market mini bettas, the betta cups they're sold in would be a little more humane. That is, unless they sell these guys in shotglasses.
Or at walmart, in contact lense cases. Miniature bettas would be cute. I am starting to think my female is a mini herself. Hasn't grown in months. :dunno:

Wow! I didn't think this post would attract so many folks... Cool! I'm not sure if I misread one of the posts or not, but I should clarify that all three of my current bettas are males. At the bottom of my siggy, you can see that some of my males had girl names, hahaha. When I first named them, I didn't know the difference between the males and females, and one was just too pretty to have a boys name! (No offense to any men who are members! :p ) All I know is that I love my fishies!

That's horrible and hilarious  But I think they use snapple bottles :p
not snapple bottles, whiskey bottles. did you all see the jatajuk pics that bkk posted? that is normal, and how most thai bettas are raised.

as for minibettas, i thought of pursuing this trait a long while ago, but then i talked to Mark Millikan who has experimented with this. He says(like wuv stated) that they are regular sized fry. so im guessing yours are either at diffrent stages in life, or they are just runtys.

but that doesn't mean mini's cant happen, i think is is very possibel to create a healthy mini betta, im no expert on genetics but if can find strains of the breed that seem to be smaller then that geno can be passed on. runtys dont have mini geno, they are just like the rest of there siblings, just smaller, all their genes r in order

Can someone explain that betta breeding floor to me? Are those little bottles or something that they're walking ON or what? Maybe it's lack of sleep lately....the picture is interesting, but I can't sort it out. I'd be interested in seeing more pictures like that.....maybe someone can make a thread about it?

I think my little girl is a mini as she is about an inch IF that and hasn't grown since I got her which was like 5 or 6 months ago. :dunno: She is in a 5 gallon so nothing too small. :dunno:

I thought my betta girl was really small for the longest time... and then I got Pooky,Aka, and Saburo from wuv. LOL I was like OMG! My female is twice their size!
I received 12 female bettas from wuv and my female betta was about 1/3 their size in lenght and width. :/ She is so tiny.
