Mini Dovii

Haha yeah will be awkward lol was thinking 6x2x2 but not too sure yet. Like I said these are just plans so far so not certain. Got the room for either 1 but as this is going to be a big fish I though the extra hight and depth would be better for him?

That fish is not a "Mini Dovii" Or Grammodes. It is a Jag "Parachromis managuense". There have been a few JagxDovii being sold by Maidenhead aquatics and swallows aquatics too, it does resemble all of the ones that i have seen. So there is a good chance that it's a hybrid. It could end up to be an 18"+ fish, i hope you've got a big empty tank spare, because it will probably eat everything that you put in with it
He has got a 450 litre all to himself. Only had the tank around 2 weeks but there are already plans for a 6x3x3 to go into our spare room :) just need to get the money together for more sand and another fx5 filter

Nice size tank ! Here's a few of some of my old Jag x Dovii babies. Your's looks like mine, but could just be a Jag, you should be able to see once it gets bigger. Just thought i would let you know that it wasn't a Grammodes :good:

They can be very aggressive and can get quite large. You can see how different they can be.

Anyway, good luck with it. I'm sure it will mature into a very ncie fish !

Thanks :) they are nice fish, thanks for sharing. Mine looks different to all those and I seen male and female jags in my lfs earlier. Both were 5-6 inches (same size as mine) and mine look different to those too :( its hard to say as iv never seen a juvi dovii in any stores. Hopefully like u said il be able to figure out what it is as it gets older. He won't eat anything thats not alive which is a real pain (unless it's frozen bloodworm cube). He is a gorgeous fish and rapidly growin in length and width. Iv only had him roughly a week or two and he has put on nearly an inch in length. Not sure if he is just meant to grow that fast or it's just because I'm feeding him more than they did at the store (Trimar in Cornwall)

Looking good man! What's the dimensions? Also is that the tank the Grammode's in?

The sand looks really nice, what is it?

Dimensions are 151x51x66cm

And yes he is in there.... Somewhere lol

Oh and the sand is unipac. Took a 25kg bag to fill it

But it wasnt anywhere near the depth I wanted/needed so I had to buy another 10kg and a 5kg bag lol

Haha be careful, one day he'll get in a mood or get bored and your plants will be toast.

Just checked and its called Limpopo black sand but as you can see its not jet black (as I thought it would be) its more of a brown. Either way I'm happy with it as it brings out the fishes colour more

Haha iv already thought about that so iv got some nice rocks to use in there instead :)

Yeah im asking as I really like the brown colour, bit different to the beige/black, I always thought the limpopo came ou a bit grey, maybe im confusing it with somehing else

No it's is a fine line between a grey and a brown. Depends on the lights you use too. When it was in the bag it looked jet black....

Either that or i could just be colour blind lol

This reply was just bad luck, he decided to play about with the plants and I woke up to a lot of floating plants lol so iv decided to tank them all out, apart from 3 along the bk and 3 in in the front. Iv taken out a lot of the bigger pieces of wood too to make a lot more swimming space and took some advice from someone here (sorry I can't remember who) and knocked the bottom off the flower pot so it's more of a tube now :) also added 3 more rocks and made a bridge for anything hiding place. As he gets to a decent size il probably move the real plants completely and put a couple of fake back in... Iv got a Texas cichlid in with him now, they are roughly the same size as each other and don't bother each other at all. They both have their own side of the tank with hiding places. I removed them, rearranged the tank then added the Texas 1st...
