Mikes 2 Litre Cube - New Begginings...

Mike,

I've never thought about using a desk lamp before. What are they like with regards to the colour spectrum, or with a small tank like this, is it less of a problem.

Squid

Hi Squid,

The colour spectrum of the desk lamp is probably not an ideal colour spectrum and I'm worried that it may encourage algae. I'll probably experiment with it and see, if it doesn't work well then I'll get some other light.

What about attatching the riccia to small bits of glass? Flat, sinks, you can cut it to whatever size you want...

I am going to use normal small bits of slate, but that's quite a good idea.

I recieved the mini landscape rocks from AE today and they're a lot larger than I expected, infact there were 2 large stones measuring about 15cm, so I'll have to use something different, but they do look great. The Dwarf riccia should come next week.

Any chance of a pic of the tank itself? Would be interested in seeing how large/small it is :)

My cameras not working at the moment, but it should be getting fixed on Friday, I'll take lots of pics, don't worry.

As you can see I thought the mini landscape rocks would be a bit smaller!

More pics to come soon once I've got the dwarf riccia.

Lol.. nice rocks though for another tank. But will definitely limit the planting in that one.

Cant wait to see this up and running. Have you considered fauna or just going to leave this plants only?

Cheers,
I can't think of any animal which would be able to live happily in a tank like this, not just because of its small size but because it has no heater or filterwith high light and daily 50% water changes which would not suite fish, shrimps, snails etc. at all. So I'll just stick to plants.
