Hi

I have a laptop (Dell) with Vista that's about 3 years old now now. It comes with Microsoft Works and does not have MS Word on it. Does anyone know the easiest and cheapest way to get MS Word onto my laptop, or any Trial versions of MS Word i may be able tom get hold of.

I have already done a 60-day trial version of MS Small Business Office a while back (this had MS Word on it)

Thanks

to be honest, you need at least ms office 2007, but there is no easy way of getting it without spending money.

this will give you word, exel and the other programs, you may find some on ebay for around £170 - the only other way is to get a copy whcih is obvsiouly illegal :hey:

get an older version office 2000 still does everything I want and more, ( so much that i cannot justify upgrading, even though I have CS3/4 versions of photoshop, illustrator & dreamweaver, those I can justify) you can get genuine copies off ebay for a fraction of the cost of newer versions

I can give you a key for 2003 as I am feeling nice just get the disk by other means I will send you with a legit code :)

if you want the latest version and to be legit also, just buy the student edition, it's about the cheapest way to do it.

although if you buy there you will more than likely need a university/college email address in order to pass the verification that you're a student, which if you are is absolutely fine.
Otherwise, you can get a cut down student version which requires no verification at all for a bit more cash from here or many other places:

I believe its a student at any UK education institution so if you don't have acess to a person between the ages of 4-23 and in education then you should stop living as a hermit and join the real world. Doesn't even have to be your own kid use a friends wear a large raincoat and stand around cornershops offering children sweets for there email address, actually that may get you arrested :(

round our way there's normally huddles of kids waiting outside the corner shop trying to persuade someone to buy cigs/booze for them, arrange a swap for an e-mail addy!

Ye it is any education based institution as long as you have the relelvant email address since that is what they use for verification.
Although how many 4 year olds have education based email addresses?

this made me laugh though...if there's anyone who doesn't live in the real world then it's students, not the other way round...and not knowing one is something to be thankful for imo, after all they have very little use.
