Hi all,

I just had to share my happiness in getting my latest editions to my low light planted aquarium.

Microrasbora sp. Galaxy

These fish are brand new in the aquatic trade and where only discovered a couple of months ago. Have a look at this article in Practical Fishkeeping's website.

They are beautiful little fish and I would recommend them to anyone looking for something very small and different. The picture really doesn't do them justice and I'm sure they will out shine my Cardinal Tetras. They are perfect for my tank in which I hope to breed shrimp as their mouths are too small to eat the babies. Although other fish in there will eat them easily.

They cost me £40 ($77.29) for 10 or £4.50 ($8.70) each, I just had to get 10 so it would make a nice shoal. I also bought 10 lovely Bumble Bee shrimp for £18.00 ($34.78), my wallet is really hurting now lol!

Well worth the money and the 2 hour drive from my house into Central London where the shop is located...

Alan

Congratulations! I want to go to London too!

Well if you do you have to go to Wholesale Tropicals on Bethnal Green Road. That is one fantastic shop! such a range of fish and loads of rare stuff, all for good prices too!

The shops around us have a lot to learn from that place.. puts me off going back to places like Creature Comforts in Totton.

I would like to know what shop that was? maybe Aquajardin in Fairoak? That is the only shop I know of that have had similar fish to this in stock and I bet their damn expensive there also...

Trimar are advertising them now - I think they're about £3.50 each...

Just checked it out... 3.30 each or 10 for 25 + 10 delivery so I would of saved 5...

Trying to justify spending the money lol! + I wouldn't of got a cup of tea out of Trimar! Now thats gotta be worth way more than a fiver! :)

I saw some of the first pictures of these fish in September and I was blown away by their markings etc, they are a stunning fish. I actually saw my first live specimens yesterday at a local shop, each fish was around 1cm long and the colours were amazing but at £5.50 each a bit out of my price range. There are reports that this fish has already been spawned in aquariums.

got mine from the goldfish bowl on saturday, they look really cool but only got 4 as they were 6 quid each and they all looked a little stressed. currently feeding them up on microworms. i will buy more if these are still fine in a few weeks. i have them in a 60litre with 8 trineus corys.

Thanks, Wolf. Actually, I don't think I meant so much that I wanted the galaxy rasboras per se, more that I wanted to see the sort of shop that stocks galaxy rasboras. Am getting very bored with the limited choice round my way. I am asking for a day out in London for Xmas!

Thanks. Part of the problem is we haven't got a car, so am restricted to places that are reasonably close to public transport. Any suggestions?

They had some at Arundel Aviaries and Fisheries last time I went, not sure how many they had but they'd probably be happy to get more in. Also lots of similar fish for mini tanks.

there is a shop in east sussex near me that sells them for 2.90 or buy 5 get one free or something like that. PM me if you want specific directions :good:
