Members New World Cichlids Tanks

I like this idea. Get some tank pics & info on here folks. I'll look up pics of the few decorated tanks I have, most of my tanks are geared towards breeding.
 
its not totally new worlds but ill have a go....




Type of setup : New worlds and a few random fish.

Tank : 180 US gallons - 6x2x2

Filtration : Fluval FX5 and a powerhead.

Lighting : 1 x 40 watt 48" tube

Substrate : Sand

Decor : Rocks, mopani wood and fake plants (damn silver dollars)

Water chemistry : PH 6.8

Maintenance : Weekly 30% water change and gravel vac - clean the filter every few months

Feeding : Mix of pellets, flakes and prawns

Fish : 1 x Oscar, 1 x Green Severum, 1 x Blue Acara, 2 x chalceus, 6 x Convicts, 5 x Clown Loaches, 2 Silver Sharks, 2 x Common Plecs, 1 x High Finned Syno
 
Well Mine isnt totally new world either, Ive got a mix but ill post what Ive got.
1st the yellow lab, he is about 5 inches, full grown:

Next is the Dempsey, also about 5 inches not quite full grown:

Next I have a pic of the Severum, he's a big guy, approximatly 7 inches:

Next is the Cobalt Blue, he is about 4 inches, Im pretty sure he is maxed out too:

Next up is the Red Devil, he is another big guy, probably about 7-8 inches but not nearly fully grown yet:

Next is the little jewel cichlid, not sure what his deal is but he seems to be stuck at about 2.5 inches, maybe I got the runt of the litter? heheh

Next is the New Black Shark, he now sits at about 4 inches, not as filled out as the RTBS yet but with a max size of 24 inches, i think he will quickly outgrow even the Devil:

Here is a pic of the Bala shark I recently gave to a buddy, he was a good 12-13 inches, big guy!:

And here is a shot of the entire tank, it's a 125 Gallon, currently running 3 of the biggest powerheads I could find, 6.5 ft of bubble hose, and an Eheim Professional II cannaster

Only one not pictured here is new the Oscar, not sure if he is gonna continue to be a member of this community, he isnt holding up too well, probably take him out tonight, Its been just over a day and Ive seen every fish in the tank take a bite out of him except the CAE You can actually see him on the entire tank shot, he is the albino looking fish. As for the Bala, Knowing that Black Sharks get huge in anticipation of getting him I gave the bala to a friend as I was afraid of eventual overcrouding! But you can see all these fish are healthy and nip free.

Filtration : Eheim Profession II, 3 Powerheads, 6.5 ft of bubble hose

Lighting : 2 double strips

Substrate : Rock

Decor : Rocks and caves

Maintenance : Weekly 30% water change and gravel vac - clean the filter every few months

Feeding : Cichlid Pellets, Flakes, Algie Pellets, occasional Brine shrimp

Fish : 1 Red Devil, 1 Green Severum, 1 Jack Dempsey, 1 Yellow Lab, 1 Cobalt Blue, 1 Jewel Cichlid, 1 Black Shark, 1 Red Tail Black shark, 1 Cae, 1 Oscar (provisional community member)
 
I would,but i'm rearanging all my tanks soon.I'll post pics and details then. :good:

Tank size: 48x18x15, about 45 UK gallons.

Filtration: Eheim pro 2 2028, Vecton 15 w uv

Lighting: 2x30watts standard white lighting 6500k

Substrate: gravel with JBL 7 ball fert for the plants

Plants: Amazon sword, Java fern, vallis and a couple of others-all easy fast growing plants

Maintenance: 50% per week

Feeding: flake-JBL gala, spirulina, frozen live food-bloodwormes, brineshrimp, cut up earthwormes, mix of veg - feed 2/3 small meals a day

Water chemistry: ph 7.5 ish. Kh 8. Gh 12. N03 5ppm

Fish:
2 Blue Acara. could be Aequidens pulcher or Aequidens coeruleopunctatus im not 100% sure.

There are aggression issues. The blue acara spawned and had to be moved.
This setup could work OK if the fish are similar sized and they dont breed.
 
O well heres current set up for one discus aquarium..
Tank : 40 gal long (4ft)

Filtration : one sponge filter for up to 55gal(i think),another dual interpet one ment for up to 20 gals.Plus a internal filter ment for aquariums up to 55 gals.

Lighting : 42 inch original tropical lamp (or something!)

Substrate : Mostly bare,some sand for cories to play in

Decor : Mopani roots mopani wood/bogwood ,potted amazon sword ,and a large peice of bogwood with java moss.

Maintenance : Trying to do a WC every 4 days. Atleast a weekly 30% water change and gravel vac - clean the filter whenever i think it needs to be!

Feeding : Tetra prima,Sera( i think) granules,blooodworms,beefheart,glassworm.

Fish : 2 Red turk discus,3 Pigeon blood discus,1 albino CAE,3 Ablino cories.

Filtration : tropiquarium 88 wet/dry filter

Lighting : 1 marine bulb,1 original tropical lamp

Substrate : sand

Decor : sword plants,bogwood and java fern

Maintenance : Weekly 30% water change - clean the filter every few months

Feeding : Tetra prima,Sera granules,bloodworm,glassworm,beefheart & the occasional suprize :shifty:

Fish:2 blue turks,1 praecox rainbow fish,1 unidentified rainbow fish.Two small CAE

Tank - 500 litre Rena

Filtration - Fluval 405 and Rena Filstar XP2

Lighting - 2x Power glo, 2x Aqua glo, Interpet Twin 55w T5 compact tri plus

Substrate -sand and small gravel

Decor - Plants, couple of stones and bogwood.

Maintenance - 2 or 3 20%ish water changes per week. Loosley follow the Estimative index for fertiliser for plants. General prune/clean once a week. Filters as and when needed.

CO2 injected from D&D pressurised system at about a bubble a second.

Feeding - Tetra prima granules and a variety of frozen food usually 3 times a day. (Little and often)

Fish - 8 Discus, 20 Rummy nose tetras, 8 black phantom tetras, 4 SAEs, 5 peppered cory's, 3 bristle nose, 4 ottos and a couple of v. old cardinals.

Four new additions in a seperate small tank for quarentine and growing to match the size of existing display tank habitants.

Tank - Rio 400

Filtration - 2 x Juwel Jumbo filter.Total of 2500 LPH

Lighting - 2x36 watt .Tropicla lamp & plant growth lamp.

Substrate -sand and gravel

Decor - Mopani roots,Loads of lava rock & a few red stones

Maintenance - 1x 30 % water change 2weeks. Filters...When they get gunged up.

Koi air bubble diffusers

Feeding - Catfish pellets,peas,bloodworm,beefheart,flake,amazon sword leaves,algae wafers,Tetra prima granules 2-3x daily

Fish-2 x Parrot fish,1x King kong parrot,1x Sailfin pleco,1x Normal pleco,2 x Raphael catfish,4 x Silver dollars,2x Festivums,1x Pearsei,1x Spotted catfish,1x ablino pleco.Upgrading to a 270 gal soon,all these and a oscar & 2 upside down catfish will go in it.Then my discus will be moved to this tank which will be very lwo tech planted.
