I just bought some tea tree oil and mixed up my own using Inchworms recipe. I'm using it to help my Bettas fins as they are so torn up from their fight. How long should I use it for??

I also have a guppy with shredded fins in with my female Betta who hasn't responded to any treatments for fin rot so I am hoping the tea tree oil will also help/cure him??

Hi Elisabeth

On my bottle it says for a disease or wound treatment to add 5ml for every 40 litres of water. Repeat dose daily for 7 days followed by a 25% water change. Treatment can be continued if necessary.

When adding new fish or handling fish add some quantity but repeat daily for 3 days.

I've found this stuff works wonder for me now I've eventually found it and yes it does treat those hard to conquer guppy fungus problems. I was having trouble with some of my fry and their tails clamping up with fungus but they are all opening back up again now.

I also read Wolf's recipe and bought some tea tree oil from Holland & Barratt on Friday for a bargain of £5.99 for 60ml!!

Good luck with your bettas fins and hope they are looking good again soon

Hey Joby :)

Ok so treat for 7 days...in those 7 days do I do 25% water changes daily or do a 25% water change after the 7 days??

I really hope it works wonders for me and helps my bettas and guppy. The guppy is so healthy other than the shredded tail.

I paid about 8 US for 10ml...they had a bigger bottle of it 25 ml for 18 US...but I wasn't sure how much I needed so I bought the smaller bottle. You got a really good deal  :D Holland & Barratt is that a shop over there or is it on-line??

Thanks

On the bottle it says after the 7 days but I guess if your water needs to change daily then I would change it :)

Holland and Barratt is a health shop over here but don't know if they do online. Wolf said there was a special deal on it. I had just bought a huge bottle of the real stuff though but I've got it for next time :)

I really wish you luck with it. Looks like you could do with some :/
