So I was at the specialty pet store a few days ago where my mom works part time, and I was looking at their betta fishies. They had tons of *gorgeous* looking fishies, all those neat betta varieties. But they had this one, lesser pretty little female sitting at the bottom. She looked kinda sickly, and I felt bad, but didn't get her. I went back yesterday, she was still there, looking even more sickly (I dunno if she's sick, stressed, or depressed). She was just sitting on the bottom, not looking interested in much and not swimming around. She only had about 1 inch of water in her tiny cup. And I cannot *stand* the woman that runs the small animal dept there. I ran it for 3 years before leaving a few years ago, and everything was kept clean, and the animals were healthy when I was over it. Now, all the fish are sick and dying, and live in brown water. But she's the manager's "pet", so whatever. *Sigh*
Anyways, I told her the other day that the fish looked sick, and really needed some more CLEAN water in her cup. She said "I'll get around to it" but obviously never did.
So I adopted her.
The manager gave her to me at cost (for what they paid for her), which was $1.50. I named her Onion. (Bellpepper and Onion, ha!)
I have a empty 30 gallon tank, and have been planning on setting it up soon, and she's going to go in there. I had planned to get a female betta to put in there anyways, so she'll work out perfectly. Right now, she's in a 1.5 gallon temp tank, while I see if she's sick and what treatment she needs, if any. So far though, she's swimming around the container like a pro, and eagerly eating her fishy pellets. Beginning to wonder if she wasn't just very stressed and depressed, because I see no outward signs of illness.
I'll let you guys take a look at the pic, and tell me if she has any outward signs of illness to you.
