How oh how do you manage to get the top picture???  My betta is quite similar in slightly lighter colors... and when I look at him color wise he is the same... then I take a picture and booom blueish shimmer is gone and he just looks pink!  LOL

 Sorry you lost your new boy.      He was very pretty.   Unfortunately their jumping nature is one of the challenges to keeping these beautiful spirited fish.

So I covered the hole and the replacement Betta seems happy enough, I need to get a thermometer and possibly a heater (I don't know if they make them for such small tanks..
 
Anyways to get the picture of the teal shimmer I turned on the flash Which is technically a no-no for fish because it can spook/possibly hurt their vision. Both the top and bottom picture were taken with a flash, the middle was not.
