Hi, I already have 2 tropical tanks but am not an expert by any means, i'm looking at getting a 180l (100cm long) tank to keep some mbuna in, i'm not sure what species to get (yellow labs?), or how many, has anyone got any ideas about whether the tank size is enough & what critters i could get?
many thanks.

NOt sure about what type you should get, but that is about a 45 USG tank right? I would say that you could fit 7-10 Mbuna in that tank. It really depends ontast. They come in many different colors, you will just have to look at them all. Run a search for Mbuna in Bing Images, and look at the ones you like, and then If you can not explore the sight and find out what type they are, then post them here, and other people will be able to help you id them. Ovbiously not me.

Hey anwhyte I would say probably try to get a slightly bigger tank if you can. 120cm if possible as I believe alot of the mbuna need at least 55gallons to help reduce aggression. I think in the 180l/40gal (imp) have no idea whats it is in us. You might see alot more aggression from your fish as they fight for space than you will in a bigger tank.

Dthy will know better than me as she knows alot about the Mbuna. As for me I'm just starting out on my own research. But I think with the Mbuna the more tank volume you can get the better. She done a brilliant post on the basics of keeping Mbuna which I will link. Check it out ;).
