Has anyone whos owned these puffers had any expiriance with tankmates?
Im looking to getting one(far down the road, when i get a 180 to start him in would upgrade larger later on)
But currently have a 75 with a small silver arowana(4inches) and a small stingray(5inches) and 2 small african clawed frogs(arowana doesnt bother em yet, hoping he wont ever cuz they get pretty big), also have a tire track eel in there. Is an mbu a cantidate for a tankmate or is he a species only... please share your expiriences, thanks much.

ok, you need that 180 or larger ASAP.

silver arowanas get big FAST (about 3' adult size). and stingrays need a lot of surface area themselves. a 75 gallon tank is far too small.

as for the mbu, the guideline is always: "never put anything with a puffer that you would be sad to see eaten".

There's a member on here called Clare, who has a 2 foot Mbu called Hamish.

He lives in a 9x3 foot tank with two three foot gars and a perruno catfish.

There used to be three gars but Hamish forgot himself one day when his dinner was late and bit one of the gars in half.

Mbu puffers are not suitable for home aquaria in 99.9% of cases.

Just to add to the opinons given above never keep a mbu with anything you would be sad to see cut in half, one of the local shops here used to have a large one in a display tank with various other Lake Tanganykia fish until one night the MBU decided to decimate half the population of the tank for fun.

Also be aware that a 3 foot fish like a puffer which is a fairly solid immobile fish is going to need a tank at least 10 feet long and 3 and half feet wide when full grown, thats a hell of an undertaking for anyone.
