Though i would take a few photos of this new addition before its released into the tank. It a very shy fish and my chances of a good photo later will not be so great!
They are called Marine Beta's or Comets and are a member of the Grouper family. They dont grow very large however so it wont turn into an 8 or 9ft monster!
They have a large spot on the tail that they use as a deterant for predators and for prey. When hunting the blow up their fins and approach their prey side-on The fish will see the eyespot and dart to where they think the tail is..
When they are feeling threatened, MArine beta's will stick their heads n the rockwork with their tails hanging out. WHen they do this they look remarkably like the head of a Moray eel! This is usually enough to make most predators think twice before approaching
Anyway, hope you like it, if i can get a few good photos of it in its natural swimming state then i will repost em.
