:-( This is the worst day in my life!! I can't believe this! My beloved Mandy is gone!!!

:) She was the "daughter" of my favorite balloon molly, Mindy, who sadly died a few months ago from a filter accident. Mandy was the only fry that survived out of a batch of eight, and I promised myself that I would do anything to keep this little girl alive. The 6 months of her short life were very special to me and I absolutly loved her! I had decided to move her out of the 46 gallon tank because she was very difficult to find and the tank had a disease breakout so I wanted to avoid using medication on her, from past expereinces with fry. I moved Mandy in my 29 gallon tank with her best buddy Susie (a black molly about the same size of her) since the tank house older fry. :fish:

 This morning when I went to look on Mandy, I found her nowhere! I immediatly reached my arm into the tank and began shifting through the plants and looking through gravel. Sadly, I discovered Mandy in the filter . . . it was just like her mother died! :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( I was heartbroken! Of course, tears flooded down my face at the sight of my beloved balloon molly Mandy! I keep on remidnding myself that Mandy is in a place without pain and she's happy, but I only cry when think of her!

:rip: MANDY

It is amazing how attached we can get to some of our fish. Sorry to hear of your loss.

sorry foryour loss :byebye: im sure mandy is swiming with her mommy in fishie heaven

Very sorry to hear :-(
I remember her being the only one who survived out of that batch of fry.
It's so unfortunate that she had to leave so soon

:) Thanks everyine! I'm very heartbroken about Mandy and I know that no fish could replace her. I hope she's happy in fishy heaven and I hope she knows that I miss her a ton. She was the best little molly that I ever had and ever rasied. :-( This all just seems like a terrible nightmare and everytime time I look into my 46 gallon tank I am forced to turned away because Mandy would always greet me and niow she's not in there. Even though she didn't die in that tank, I have plenty of memories of her in that tank. I'll always love you Mandy!

:( (I'll post some pictures of her as soon as I can look at them without crying)

I am so sorry to hear of your sad losses. However, were the filters the trapped both fish the same kind? If so, if it were me I would be making the manufacturers aware of the safety hazard and look at ways of screening it off so any other fish can't get into it.

I had the same problem with Interpet filters and baby pencilfish and tetras, had to use a fine mesh to cover the inlets so the fish didn't get trapped in them.

:) Thank you for helping me this difficult time of sorrow. I've relaxed now, so I posted a bunch of pictures of Mandy in the "Memebers Aquarium Photos" if you want to see them.

-_- All of my main tanks have the Aquaclear filters, and it was the Aquaclear 200 that trapped Mindy (her mother) and Mandy. I always adjust the filter to its lowest speed, but I have had several probelms with fish getting sucked up. Neon tetras, guppies, mollies and platies have all been caught in the suction, but I don't know how else to stop this. The only souluction that I worked out is to slip a small plastic ball over the intake pipe to keep fish from the suction, but even with this I have lost many fish and found their bodies wrapped around the ball. I should contact the manufacturer and warn them about these accidents. :look:
