If I were able to get pictures I would, but I don't normally have a camera around the tank so he was a little freaked out so didn't stay still..

Anyways I've had my betta since Feb 2013, and the entire time I've assumed he was a male, and a HM or delta (Because he has pretty full fins) he was simple labeled as assorted betta at the store.

Recently (Over the past few months) I've noticed that he has a feature that as a male he shouldn't, what appears to be an egg tube near his bottom.

I'm sure there have been instances of stores selling males that turn out to be female, but this betta's fins are the same length as those of any male betta to be observed at the pet store, and I've never seen a female with fins more than a cm or two long..

Hopefully eventually I'll be able to get a picture, but does anyone have an opinion on if he is infact a he or a she?

There are also cases (yes, i've had two in the past) of male bettas with mild fin rot in which they resemble female fins for that matter.

And there are also cases of male betta's having egg spots or Ovipositors. As mentioned, a picture would help a lot. If it's fins are as long as a males then I would be inclined to say male. You can get long finned females but not females with fins as long as a HM/Delta male.

Male bettas sometimes have egg spots. A quick picture and most people here will be able to sex him for you.
