male and female fought...EMERGENCY

my female got loose from her keeper and jumped in with my male, dragon, who i love very very much, and i came home to find his tail in shreds and him looking weak and terrified. i called my bf immediatly so he could bring over some stress coat he had, and i put the recommended dose in. he looks so bad and i'm in tears right now fearing for his life, so i would GREATLY appreciate any info on how i can save this poor guy.

dragon is still swimming a little. but mostly just sitting at the top gulping air......i hope this doesn't kill him. he just looks so terrible right now.....his beautiful long fins are just....

the female must be a killer....

usually the males will rip apart the females..

add some salt.. that is supposed to help em...

if its just fins, he should be ok aslong as he doesnt get an infection...

when i got brand new bettas from a breeder, about 3 months ago, 2 males got at each other and one had no tail at all left... now his tail is almost fully re grown..

is his body ok? did he take any big bites?

Yea, if his body is ok then he should be fine as long as you treat for infections. So salt and BettaMax if you have any should get him through just fine. Also, large daily water changes, you want his wanted sparkling clean during this time.

His fins should grow back fine. I have a friend who's male Betta was savaged by a red tailed black shark. He seperated them into different tanks and the Betta's fins grew back to normal within 2 months, which was quite good considering he looked like a female after the RTBS had finished with him.

someone else mentioned to use melafix. which is better, melafix or bettamax?

he made it throught the night. but he still doesn't want to move around alot. i don't think she got his body. i didn't see any noticible marks, and i looked him over pretty good. i'm going to the store at 9:30. it's 9 right now. i've gotta hurry up, get him some medicine, and hope my bf can come over some time after 12. we're leaving to go camping then, and after that poor dragon is on his own.

i'm glad that all of your betta's came out fine. maybe i make this out to be worse than it is.....i'm just so used to his long flowy fins, and now he's got holes all over it, and a piece is even hanging off of him on one part. he just looks so bad. and he's still terrified looking.

ya, the girl i have that beat him up thinks she's a guy....bubble nests, aggresive, wags her tail at others....and it doesn't help that dragon is one of my wussy boys. i think he follows that "don't hit girls" rule. i put them together before just for a minute to see how they would react to eachother. he didn't flare, didn't make ANY attempt to go at her. she did all the flaring, and the first nip she took i removed her immediatly. she's a mean one!

i showed her pic on here before, and someone said it was for sure a girl. but you sure can't tell by the way she acts! she's a ferocious little b###h! lol. i'd put her pic up here, but photobucket is down. aw well....maybe some other time.

well, dragon is moving more, but is still traumatized. i bought the bettamax and it turned nearly the entire tank green! i'm gonna try and have my bf check up on him tomorrow since i'm gonna be leaving in about 30 minutes.

got an update on dragon!

he's doing GREAT now! happier than ever. he's still in shreds....but not as bad. heres some current pics of him:

too bad this cam doesn't show much of his true colors.....he really looks great as opposed to what he did right after gettin his butt kicked!

but in person she is a really perdy girl....so flawless.....i'll go try n get pics of her.
