Making A Tank

I'm going to make a fish tank because right now i have an angel in a 9 gallon one, so I what to upgrade.
I never made one so any tips or comments would help

the size will be 24 long x 18 tall x 12 wide or some thing very close

hi again ok I check the glass i have at home and I can go bigger the tank will be 30 x 18 tall x 14 wide

the question is that the thick of the glass is 5mm and i read that for that size of tank it needs to be 6mm

will it be ok if a use the 5 mm glass to make that size tank ??
