Only 4 months old, this light unit has 23 10,000k white LEDs and 4 royal blue LEDs, and a rocker switch which allows all off, all on, or just blue on. Currently in use over a freshwater tropical tank but could be used for marine to give a huge cost saving over standard t5/t8 tubes. The unit has expanding brackets which will allow it to be used on tanks ranging from 24-36". I have had good plant growth with this, but am positive it would work on both fresh or salt water where a 10,000k light was required.
Please note this is not yet available, but should be around the first week of October once the tank it is over has been emptied and sold.

All negotiations and questions must be posted in this sales thread and NOT by PM.

Communications may only be taken to PM once the sale and price has been agreed upon on the open forum and payment/collection details need to be given.

Hi, how would this compare to a twin T5 setup? Mine has broken so looking around for a new setup, is it bright enough? I am only in Oxted so could be up for a deal?

You'd need to see it - I switched from a metal halide to this, so have nothing to compare.
I did have someone who agreed to buy it, but they seem to have gone all quiet - I'll chase them up and if no reply by the end of today, you are welcome to pop over at the weekend to take a look.
And yes, I won't charge you the postage :)

Ok if its still for sale i will take it, subject to a demo :)

Hi
Been let down by the buyer, so it's yours if you are happy with it. I'll PM you my details later to arrange for you to come and see it.
Cheers
Martin

I'm waiting to hear back from forever after he popped round yesterday, but at this time it's still available.

How many watts does this put out? I'm currently running a couple of 25 watt T8s over my 200 litre tank which works out at 1 wpg, and I could really do with better lighting. The only problem is I know very little about LED lighting (other than they tend to last ages), and searching on the net has proven to be very confusing!

As far as I know, the white bulbs are 3W each, totalling 69W for the 23 white bulbs. I don't know how the blues (though there is only 4 of these) affect that rating.
I can't tell you much more other than I have had improved plant growth since using them, though the spread does depend on the optics used. This particular unit gives out quite a tight beam of light, but the other LED lights I have on my 5' have different optics and a much wider spread of light.
Hope that helps

I read elsewhere that 6w of LED is equivalent to 24w of T8. I don't suppose you know if that's true? I'm guessing this isn't the best way to workout how much light you need but I'm too ignorant about lighting to know where to look for the info I need! I'll do some reading up and get back to you.

I really couldn't tell you I'm afraid.

The LED lights are now SOLD
