Luke's Rio 180 Reef

If the bigger forum is the one I think it is, I am not surprised to be honest.

No problem, we all started somewhere, we don't forget that on here.

Yeah it is I would of thought so. It's good but sometimes not matter how much you ask nobody helps for example when my clown was being aggressive. Anyway I'll let you know how the wrasse gets on.

looking good Luke, you seem to be another one who can take great photos - your blenny is

Thanks I don't think they are that good though, I need to get myself my own camera I think a fujifilm superzoom or something they are meant to be good. Probably I always have is that the fish move and if they move slightly it puts the stupid compact camera off. Anyway, blenny is easy to photo as he/she has several place where he/she likes to sit - which is probably why the images are more focused.

In other news think the wrasse has gone to bed as it is sitting in the rocks. Not bad since the light will be off in 30 minutes anyway :).

Also just noticed my blenny seems to have a jet black spot at the front of his dorsal fin, I suppose this is normal it seems blenny is swimming around with his fins heavily extended which I guess can only be a sign that it he/she is healthy :) (Blenny leaves lots of kiss marks when I forget to clean the glass anyway lol so I guess that is good food.)

I use a Fuji superzoom, as does Jennybugs and Seffie has just bought one too.

We can be a Fuji club.

The wrasse usually are the first fish to bed, they will go at the same time each night too. Sometimes they are also the last up.

Yeah I think I remember from when I used to come on here a lot (when I accumulated my posts due to freshwater fish addiction) that a lot of people had them and I guess I took your advice.

Anyway I won't get one just yet I mean I don't have any money currently. However Scott from the new Maidenhead Aquatics @ Brighton should be ringing me up soon to confirm that I can work Saturdays. I did work experience for him at the Hickstead store June last year and I think he's quite keen on taking me on (now that I'm 16.) Anyway hopefully then I'll be able to make my advances such as buying new tests kits to make sure I can take on corals. However I fear I will have trouble juggling what I want to buy with my new found money. Hopefully at some point I'll get a camera as although my mum's one is meant to be good I think it's not too great at producing sharp pictures especially when I have clownfish to to take pictures of.

Anyway about the wrasse it was up and about when I woke up about 9:30am this morning so I'm not sure when it was up. Although having excitable fish like clownfish and blennies it's hard to work out when they actually are sleeping so I can't really make comparisons.

Lovely looking tank, your little blenny is adorable.

Yeah he's very nice has loads of character and a bargain at £16. Pretty sure (like wrasse) he goes to bed at a certain time just after lights out he swims into the underside of the powerhead bracket and sleeps curled up upside down.

In other news all fish were awake when I woke up at 10, so I assume wrasse goes to bed about 9 and wakes up 9 or earlier which is pretty good, seems to be in sync with lighting times although they don't come on until 2.

My fairy wrasses make a mucus nest to sleep in, how i would love to see that - do flashers sleep in the sand like some other wrasses or do they as well make a mucus bed?

Don't know how you tell about a mucus bed but last night he went into the rock and slept against the rock and sat on the sand.

Nice looking tank. Like the rock too.

I think your pictures are excellent. You don't have to worry about getting a new camera :) For any camera you'll have to take quite a few pictures to get 1 good picture.

Well actually on lose last few pictures I showed you I only take the ones I uploaded  . I may well get a new camera anyway perhaps near christmas (the camera I use is actually my Mums).

Just read through your journal, its looking brilliant.

Thank you very much the flasher wrasse imo has settled well and I've even seen it keeping my female clown at bay. Basically it had a little charge or something the other day and the wrasse immediately flashed up and took a bite out of the clowns fins. Nothing serious not like what the clown did to the cardinal just a tiny bite.

Seems I have a fish who can stand up to the clown hehe :).

Anyway hopefully next week I will have my coral beauty angelfish which will hopefully help get rid of some algae for me. Still awaiting a call from the lfs manager about a job so not sure about how long until corals yet.
