Luke's Rio 180 Reef

The Coral Beauty didn't come in the order so will be getting it in about 1 1/2 weeks if TMC have them in stock. Although I got a Flasher wrasse today to replace my bullied Bangaii Cardinalfish I think it is a Carpenter's.

Nice Choice

Piccies please

Still acclimatising gonna let it out in a min just before the lights come on. It's lying down in the bucket though think it may be a bit stressed it was fine in the shop. Will see what it's like when it gets in the tank but I may not be able to get a picture yet because it might hide for a bit.

They do lie funny like that when they are stressed.

Give it some time in the tank and it will be fine. Try and keep your hands out of the tank later to lessen the stress for him.

Yeah it moved and now it's moved again and I can't see it. I think it has gone deeper into the live rock becuase I know the cleaner shrimp was trying to say hello.

The cleaner shrimp is thinking Dinner.

The wrasse may well be making himself a bed, they like tight spots between the sand and rock.

He should be out and about and fine tomorrow.

We'll see hopefully I've heard it can take a few days for wrasses. Good point about it wanting to go to sleep didn't think of that because at the lfs there was hardly any sand and like nothing good for sleeping in.

I've spotted the fish again and it seems he is going in and out the back of the rock now as I can see through the rock that he has been in the light. Looks like he is gaining confidence.

Today, as predicted, my new flasher wrasse has emerged properly. Earlier this morning it seemed to be weaving in and out of the rocks but since the lights have come on and I put the food in it's been cruising around the tank. Looks like he's settled in!

Here's some pictures from today:

Also during the week I turned one of my rocks over as I knew it had a nice fan worm on the underside of it, as shown above.
Later on I'm going to take the hood off to try and remove the grape caulerpa from my tank.

Leave your hands out of the tank today, flashers can get stressed, let him settle properley first.

Nice wrasse, either carpenters or McCoskers, will know more when he is adult.

Oops too late  .

Seems fine though it's not hiding in the rocks at all now and it's been feeding. Saw it flash earlier also was a pretty awesome sight. Won't be touching the tank tomorrow hopefully I haven't done any bad.

What are the distinctions in species by the way?

Adult colouring mainly. Would need to lok them up though as they are very similar.

I lost a flasher after moving from one tank to another due to stress. Fine one minute next morning no sign.

Give him a few days now to settle. Hopefully he will be fine, I am just a little more cautious since that loss.

Oh right then yeah to be honest I was a bit worried yesterday as colouration was all patchy but today he seems fine. I don't expect I will be doing any work on the tank until next weekend anyway now until the week after next because I may be getting a coral beauty then depending if they are at stock in TMC.

Thanks for your help the people on here seem very knowledgeable and unlike on a bigger forum I visit they actually bother looking at everyone's tanks and helping people lots :).
